A Song of degrees.

¹ ¶ Out of the depths I cry unto thee, O LORD.

² Lord, hear my voice; let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

³ If thou, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall endure?

⁴ Therefore there is forgiveness close to thee, that thou may be feared.

⁵ ¶ I have waited for the LORD, my soul has waited, and for his word I have waited.

⁶ My soul has waited for the Lord more than those that watch for the morning: I say, more than those that watch for the morning.

⁷ Let Israel wait for the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy and plenteous redemption close to him.

⁸ And he shall ransom Israel from all his sins.

²⁵ And in all Israel there was no one to be so greatly praised as Absalom for his beauty; from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.

²⁶ And when he shaved his head (for it was at every year’s end that he shaved it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore, he shaved it), the hair of his head weighed two hundred shekels after the king’s weight.

²⁷ And unto Absalom there were born three sons and one daughter, whose name was Tamar, who was a beautiful woman to behold.

²⁸ ¶ So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem and did not see the king’s face.

²⁹ Therefore, Absalom sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him; and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.

³⁰ Therefore, he said unto his slaves, See, Joab’s field is near mine, and he has barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom’s slaves set the field on fire.

³¹ Then Joab arose and came to Absalom unto his house and said unto him, Why have thy slaves set my field on fire?

³² And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I have sent for thee, saying, Come here, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Why have I come from Geshur? It would have been better for me to have been there still. Now, therefore, let me see the king’s face; and if there is any iniquity in me, let him kill me.

³³ So Joab came to the king and told him. Then he called Absalom, who came to the king and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king; and the king kissed Absalom.

6 ¶ Brethren, if anyone is overtaken in a fault, ye who are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself lest thou also be tempted.

² Bear ye one another’s burdens and so fulfil the law of the Christ.

³ For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

⁴ But let everyone prove his own work, and then he shall have glory regarding only himself, and not in another.

⁵ For everyone shall bear his own burden.

⁶ Let the one that is taught in the word communicate unto the one that teaches in all good things.

⁷ Do not deceive yourselves; God is not mocked: for whatever a man sows that shall he also reap.

⁸ For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that sows in the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life.

⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

¹⁰ Therefore as long as we have the opportunity, let us do good unto everyone, especially unto those who are of the household of faith.
