51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness. According to the multitude of Your compassions, put away my iniquities.

² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity; and cleanse me from my sin.

³ For I know my iniquities; and my sin is ever before me.

⁴ Against You, against You only, have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be just when You speak and pure when You judge.

⁵ Behold, I was born in iniquity; and in sin my mother conceived me.

⁶ Behold, You love truth to the core. Therefore, You have taught me wisdom in my core.

⁷ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

⁸ Make me hear joy and gladness; so that the bones which You have broken may rejoice.

⁹ Hide Your Face from my sins; and put away all my iniquities.

¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

¹¹ Do not cast me away from Your presence; and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

¹² Restore to me the joy of Your salvation; and establish me with Your free Spirit.

¹⁹ Now, as soon as he came near the camp, he saw the calf and the dancing. So, Moses’ wrath grew hot; and he cast the Tablets out of his hands, and broke them in pieces, beneath the mountain.

²⁰ Afterward, he took the calf which they had made and burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and scattered it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink it.

²¹ Also, Moses said to Aaron, “What did this people do to you, that you have brought so great a sin upon them?”

²² Then Aaron answered, “Do not let the wrath of my Lord grow fierce. You know this people, that they are set on mischief.

²³ “And they said to me, ‘Make us gods to go before us. For we do not know what has become of this Moses (the man who brought us out of the land of Egypt).’

²⁴ “Then I said to them, ‘You who have gold, tear it off.’ And they brought it to me; and I cast it into the fire, and out came this calf.”

²⁵ Therefore, Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had made them unrestrained, to their shame among their enemies).

²⁶ And Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, “Whoever is with the LORD, come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves to him.

¹⁷ Now in this message I do not praise: that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse.

¹⁸ For first of all, I hear that there are divisions among you when you come together in the church. And in part I believe it.

¹⁹ For there must also be heresies among you, so that those who are approved might be known among you.

²⁰ Therefore, when you come together into one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper.

²¹ For everyone, when he eats, takes his own supper beforehand. And one is hungry and another is drunk.

²² What!? Do you not have houses in which to eat and to drink? Or do you despise the Church of God and shame those who do not have? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.
