To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David.

¹ ¶ The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is no one that does good.

² The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any that did understand and seek God.

³ They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is no one that does good, no, not one.

⁴ ¶ The workers of iniquity certainly know this; those who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD.

⁵ There they were in great fear: for God is with the nation of the righteous.

⁶ Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor because the LORD is his hope.

⁷ Oh that the saving health of Israel were come out of Zion! When the LORD turns back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

¹³ And Joab drew near and the people that were with him, to do battle against the Syrians, and they fled before him.

¹⁴ And when the sons of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they also fled before Abishai and entered into the city. So Joab returned from the sons of Ammon and came to Jerusalem.

¹⁵ ¶ And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they gathered themselves together.

¹⁶ And Hadarezer sent and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river, and they came to Helam, and Shobach, the captain of the host of Hadarezer, went before them.

¹⁷ And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together and passed over the Jordan and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in order against David and fought with him.

¹⁸ And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians and forty thousand horsemen and smote Shobach, the captain of their host, who died there.

¹⁹ And when all the kings that were slaves to Hadarezer saw that they were smitten before Israel, they made peace with Israel and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the sons of Ammon any more.

³¹ In the meanwhile his disciples entreated him, saying, Rabbi, eat.

³² But he said unto them, I have a food to eat that ye know not of.

³³ Therefore said the disciples one to another, Has anyone brought him anything to eat?

³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.

³⁵ Do ye not say, There are yet four months and then comes harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest.

³⁶ And he that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto eternal life, that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.

³⁷ And herein is that saying true, One sows and another reaps.

³⁸ I have sent you to reap that upon which ye bestowed no labour; others laboured, and ye have entered into their labours.
