Psalm 14

The folly and wickedness of men.

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

14 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt, they have done abominable works;
There is none that doeth good.
Jehovah looked down from heaven upon the children of men,
To see if there were any that did [a]understand,
That did seek after God.
They are all gone aside; they are together become filthy;
There is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge,
Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
And call not upon Jehovah?
There were they in great fear;
For God is in the generation of the righteous.
Ye put to shame the counsel of the poor,
[b]Because Jehovah is his refuge.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion!
When Jehovah [c]bringeth back the captivity of his people,
Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

2 Samuel 10:6-12

And when the children of Ammon saw that they were become odious to David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with a thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men. And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men. And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate: and the Syrians of Zobah and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.

Now when Joab saw that [a]the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians: 10 and the rest of the people he committed into the hand of [b]Abishai his brother; and he put them in array against the children of Ammon. 11 And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me; but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee. 12 Be of good courage, and let us play the man for our people, and for the cities of our God: and Jehovah do that which seemeth him good.

Colossians 3:12-17

12 Put on therefore, as God’s elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering; 13 forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man have a complaint against any; even as [a]the Lord forgave you, so also do ye: 14 and above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of Christ [b]rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of [c]Christ dwell in you [d]richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing [e]one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. 17 And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
