2 Samuel 7:1-14

2 David would build God an house, but is forbidden by the Prophet Nathan. 8 God putteth David in mind of his benefits. 12 He promiseth continuance of his kingdom and posterity.

Afterward (A)when the King sat in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies,

The King said unto Nathan the Prophet, Behold, now I dwell in an house of cedar trees, and the Ark of God remaineth within the [a]curtains.

Then Nathan said unto the king, Go, and do all that is in thine heart: for the Lord is with thee.

¶ And the same night the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying,

Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the Lord, [b]Shalt thou build me an house for my dwelling?

For I have dwelt in no house since the time that I brought the children of Israel out of Egypt unto this day, but have walked in a tent and Tabernacle.

In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel, spake I one [c]word with any of the tribes of Israel when I commanded the Judges to feed my people Israel? or said I, Why build ye not me an house of cedar trees?

Now therefore so say unto my servant David, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, (B)I took thee from the sheepcote following the sheep, that thou mightest be ruler over my people, over Israel.

And I was with thee wheresoever thou hast walked, and have destroyed all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a [d]great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

10 (Also I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant it, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move [e]no more, neither shall wicked people trouble them anymore as beforetime,

11 And since the time that I set Judges over my people of Israel) and I will give thee rest from all thine enemies: also the Lord telleth thee, that he will make thee an house.

12 (C)And when thy days be fulfilled, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, and I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy body, and will establish his kingdom.

13 (D)He shall build an house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

14 (E)I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and if he (F)sin, I will chasten him with the [f]rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of men.

Psalm 89:20-37

20 I have found David my servant: with mine holy oil have I anointed him.

21 Therefore mine hand shall be established with him, and mine arm shall strengthen him.

22 The enemy shall not oppress him, neither shall the wicked hurt him.

23 But I will [a]destroy his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

24 My truth also and my [b]mercy shall be with him, and in my Name shall his [c]horn be exalted.

25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the [d]floods.

26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my [e]Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

27 Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my Covenant shall stand fast with him.

29 His seed also will I make to endure [f]forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

30 But if his children forsake my Law, and walk not in my judgments:

31 (A)If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments:

32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with strokes.

33 [g]Yet my loving kindness will I not take from him, neither will I falsify my truth.

34 My Covenant will I not break, nor [h]alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

35 I have sworn once by mine holiness, [i]that I will not fail David, saying,

36 His seed shall endure forever, and his throne shall be as the sun before me.

37 He shall be established for evermore as the moon, and as a faithful [j]witness in the heaven. Selah.

Ephesians 2:11-22

11 [a]Wherefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, and [b]called uncircumcision of them, which are [c]called circumcision in the flesh, made with hands,

12 That ye were, I say, at that time [d]without Christ, and were [e]aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and were (A)strangers from the covenants of promise, and had no hope, and were without God in the world.

13 [f]But now in Christ Jesus, ye which once were far off, are made near by the blood of Christ.

14 [g]For he is our peace, which hath made of both one, and hath broken the stop of the partition wall,

15 (B)In abrogating through his flesh the hatred, that is, the Law of commandments which standeth in ordinances, for to make of twain one new man in himself, so making peace,

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in [h]one body by his cross, and [i]slay hatred thereby,

17 [j]And came, and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were near.

18 For [k]through him we both have an entrance unto the Father by one Spirit.

19 [l]Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners: but citizens with the Saints, and of the household of God.

20 [m]And are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the [n]chief cornerstone,

21 In whom all the building [o]coupled together, groweth unto an holy Temple in the Lord.

22 In whom ye also are built together to be the habitation of God by the Spirit.

Mark 6:30-34

30 (A)And the Apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

31 [a]And he said unto them, Come ye apart into the wilderness, and rest a while: for there were many comers and goers, that they had not leisure to eat.

32 (B)So they went by ship out of the way into a desert place.

33 But the people saw them when they departed, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and came thither before them, and assembled unto him.

34 (C)Then Jesus went out, and saw a great multitude, and had compassion on them, because they were like sheep which had no shepherd: (D)and he began to teach them many things.

Mark 6:53-56

53 (A)And they came over, and went into the land of Gennesaret, and arrived.

54 [a]So when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,

55 And ran about throughout all that region round about, and began to carry hither and thither in couches all that were sick, where they heard that he was.

56 And whithersoever he entered into towns, or cities, or villages, they laid their sick in the streets, and prayed him that they might touch at the least the edge of his garment. And as many as touched [b]him, were made whole.
