Psalm 108

108 This Psalm is composed of two other Psalms before the seven and fiftieth and the sixtieth.  The matter here contained is, 1 That David giveth himself with heart and voice to praise the Lord, 7 and assureth himself of the promise of God concerning his kingdom over Israel, and his power against other nations: 11 Who though he seem to forsake us for a time, yet he alone will in the end cast down our enemies.

A song or Psalm of David.

O God, mine heart is [a]prepared, so is [b]my tongue: I will sing and give praise.

Awake viol and harp, I will awake early.

I will praise thee, O Lord, among the [c]people, and I will sing unto thee among the nations.

For thy mercy is great above the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

[d]Exalt thyself, O God, above the heavens, and let thy glory be upon all the earth,

That thy beloved may be delivered: [e]help with thy right hand and hear me.

God hath spoken in his [f]holiness: therefore I will rejoice, I shall divide Shechem and measure the valley of Succoth.

Gilead shall be mine, and Manasseh shall be mine: Ephraim also shall be the strength of mine head: Judah is my lawgiver.

(A)Moab shall be my washpot: over Edom will I cast out my shoe: upon Palestine will I triumph.

10 Who will lead me into the strong city? who will bring me unto Edom?

11 [g]Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst forsaken us, and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?

12 Give us help against trouble: for vain is the help of man.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he shall tread down our enemies.

1 Samuel 8

1 Samuel maketh his sons Judges over Israel, who follow not his steps. 5 The Israelites ask a King.  11 Samuel declareth in what state they should be under the King. 19 Notwithstanding, they ask one still, and the Lord willeth Samuel to grant unto them.

When Samuel was now become old, he [a]made his sons Judges over Israel,

(And the name of his eldest son was [b]Joel, and the name of the second Abijah) even Judges in Beersheba.

And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and (A)took rewards, and perverted the judgment.

¶ Wherefore all the Elders of Israel gathered them together, and came to Samuel unto [c]Ramah,

And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: (B)make us now a King to judge us like all nations.

But the thing [d]displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a King to judge us: and Samuel prayed unto the Lord.

And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hear the voice of the people in all that they shall say unto thee: for they have not cast thee away, but they have cast me away, that I should not reign over them.

As they have ever done since I brought them out of Egypt even unto this day, (and have forsaken me, and served other gods) even so do they unto thee.

Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit, yet [e]testify unto them, and show them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.

10 ¶ So Samuel told all the words of the Lord unto the people that asked a king of him.

11 And he said, This shall be the [f]manner of the king that shall reign over you: he will take your sons, and appoint them to his chariots, and to be his horsemen, and some shall run before his chariot.

12 Also he will make them his captains over thousands, and captains over fifties, and to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make instruments of war, and the things that serve for his chariots.

13 He will also take your daughters and make them Apothecaries, and Cooks, and Bakers.

14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your best Olive trees, and give them to his servants.

15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give it to his [g]Eunuchs, and to his servants.

16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and the chief of your young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 He will take the tenth of your sheep, and ye shall be his servants.

18 And ye shall cry out at that day, because of your king, whom ye have chosen you, and the Lord will not [h]hear you at that day.

19 But the people would not hear the voice of Samuel, but did say, Nay, but there shall be a king over us.

20 And we also will be like all other nations, and our king shall judge us, and go out before us and fight our battles.

21 Therefore when Samuel heard all the words of the people, he rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord.

22 And the Lord said to Samuel, [i]Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go every man unto his city.

Revelation 20:7-15

[a]And when the [b]thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

[c]And shall go out to deceive the people, which are in the four quarters of the earth: even (A)Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the Sea.

And they went up into the [d]plain of the earth, and they compassed the tents of the Saints about, and the beloved city: but [e]fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10 [f]And the devil that deceived them, was cast into a lake of fire and brimstone, where that beast and that false prophet are, and shall be tormented even day and night for evermore.

11 [g]And I saw a great [h]white throne, and one that sat on it, [i]from whose face fled away both the earth and heaven, and their place was no more found.

12 And I saw the dead, both great and small stand before [j]God: and the [k]books were opened, and (B)another book was opened, which is the book [l]of life, and the dead were judged of those things, which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 [m]And the sea gave up her dead, which were in her, and death and hell delivered up the dead, which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 [n]And death, and hell were cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.
