Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
6 ¶ In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims; each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
3 And one cried out unto another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of the hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 ¶ Then I said, Woe is me! for I am dead because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of the hosts.
6 Then one of the seraphim flew unto me, having a live coal in his hand which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched thy lips; and it shall take away thy guilt, and thy sin shall be cleansed.
8 After this, I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I answered, Here am I; send me.
A Psalm of David.
1 ¶ Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; yea, the LORD broke the cedars of Lebanon.
6 And He made them skip like calves; Lebanon and Sirion like the sons of the unicorns.
7 The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD that shall shake the wilderness; the LORD shall shake the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD shall make the hinds to calve and shall uncover the forests: and in his temple every one speaks to his glory.
10 The LORD sits upon the flood; yea, the LORD sat down as King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people in peace.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
13 For if ye live according to the flesh, ye shall die; but if through the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For all that are led by the Spirit of God, the same are sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of slavery to be in fear again, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption of sons, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 For the same Spirit bears witness unto our spirit that we are sons of God,
17 ¶ and if sons, also heirs certainly of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together with him.
3 ¶ There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a prince of the Jews;
2 the same came to Jesus by night and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that thou doest unless God is with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a person be born again from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again from above.
8 The wind blows where it desires, and thou hearest the sound of it, but canst not tell from where it comes or where it goes; so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can this be done?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a teacher of Israel and knowest not this?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee that we speak what we know and testify that which we have seen, and ye do not receive our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things and ye do not believe, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no one has ascended up to the heaven but he that came down from the heaven, even the Son of man, who is in the heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up,
15 that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.
