Psalm 29

A Davidic Psalm.

Praise to the Majestic Lord

29 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings;
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    worship the Lord wearing holy attire.

The voice of the Lord was heard[a] above the waters;
    the God of glory thundered;
        the Lord was heard[b] over many waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord snaps the cedars;[c]
    the Lord snaps the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes them stagger like a calf,
    even Lebanon and Sirion[d] like a young wild ox.

The voice of the Lord shoots out flashes of fire.
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
        the voice of the Lord shakes[e] the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord causes deer to give birth,
    and strips the forest bare.
        In his Temple all of them shout, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sat enthroned over the flood,
    and the Lord sits as king forever.
11 The Lord will give strength to his people;
    the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Isaiah 2:1-5

A Message for Judah and Jerusalem

The message that Amoz’s son Isaiah received[a] concerning Judah and Jerusalem:

“It will come about in the last days
    that the mountain that is the Lord’s Temple will be established
        as the highest of mountains,[b]
and will be raised above the hills;
    all the nations will stream to[c] it.
Many groups of people[d] will come, commenting,
    “Come! Let’s go up to[e] the Temple of the God of Jacob,
that they[f] may teach us his ways.
    Then let’s walk in his paths.”

The Rule of God from Jerusalem

“Instruction[g] will proceed from Zion,
    and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He will judge between the nations,
    and will render verdicts[h] for the benefit of many.[i]

“They will beat their swords into plowshares,
    and their spears into pruning hooks;
nations will not raise swords against nations,
    and they will not learn warfare anymore.

“You house of Jacob!

Come! Let’s live[j] in the Lord’s light.

Romans 8:9-11

You, however, are not under the control of the human nature but under the control of the Spirit, since God’s Spirit lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of the Messiah,[a] he does not belong to him. 10 But if the Messiah[b] is in you, your bodies are dead due to sin, but the spirit[c] is alive due to righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then the one who raised the Messiah[d] from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive by his Spirit who lives in you.
