29 1 The Prophet exhorteth the princes and rulers of the world (which for the most part think there is no God.) 3 At the least to fear him for the thunders and tempests, for fear whereof all creatures tremble. 11 And though thereby God threateneth sinners, yet he is always merciful to his, and moveth them thereby to praise his Name.
A Psalm of David.
1 Give unto the Lord, ye [a]sons of the mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength.
2 Give unto the Lord glory due unto his Name: worship the Lord in the glorious Sanctuary.
3 The [b]voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory maketh it to thunder: the Lord is upon the great waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is mighty: the voice of the Lord is glorious.
5 The [c]voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars: yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to leap like a calf: Lebanon also and [d]Shirion like a young unicorn.
7 The voice of the Lord divideth the [e]flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord maketh the wilderness to tremble: the Lord maketh the wilderness of [f]Kadesh to tremble.
9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to [g]calve, and [h]discovereth the forests: therefore in his [i]Temple doth every man speak of his glory.
10 The Lord sitteth upon the [j]floods, and the Lord doth remain King forever.
11 The Lord shall give strength unto his people: the Lord shall bless his people with peace.
Isaiah
1 2 Isaiah reproveth the Jews of their ingratitude and stubbornness, that neither for benefits nor punishments would amend. 11 He showed why their sacrifices are rejected, and wherein God’s true service standeth. 24 He prophesieth of the destruction of Jerusalem, 25 and of the restitution thereof.
1 A [a]vision of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, which he saw [b]concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of [c]Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah Kings of Judah.
2 Hear, O [d]heavens, and hearken, O earth: for the Lord hath said, I have nourished and brought up [e]children, but they have rebelled against me.
3 The [f]ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel hath not known: my people hath not understood.
4 Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity: a [g]seed of the wicked, corrupt children: they have forsaken the Lord: they have provoked the [h]Holy one of Israel to anger: they are gone backward.
16 [a]Wash you, make you clean, take away the evil of your works from before mine eyes: cease to do evil.
17 Learn to [b]do well: seek judgment, relieve the oppressed: judge the fatherless, and defend the widow.
18 Come now, [c]and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins were as crimson, they shall be made [d]white as snow: though they were red like scarlet, they shall be as wool,
19 If ye [e]consent and obey, ye shall eat the good things of the land.
20 But if ye refuse and be rebellious, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
8 1 He concludeth that there is no condemnation to them, who are grafted in Christ through his Spirit, 3 howsoever they be as yet burdened with sins: 9 For they live through that Spirit, 14 Whose testimony, 15 driveth away all fear, 28 and relieveth our present miseries.
1 Now [a]then there is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, which [b]walk not after the [c]flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 [d]For the [e]Law of the Spirit of [f]life which is in [g]Christ Jesus, hath [h]freed me from the Law of sin and of death.
3 [i]For (that that was [j]impossible to the Law, inasmuch as it was weak, because of the [k]flesh) God sending his own Son, in the similitude of [l]sinful flesh, and for [m]sin, [n]condemned sin in the flesh,
4 That that [o]righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled [p]in us, which walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 [q]For they that are after the [r]flesh, savor the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
6 [s]For the wisdom of the flesh is death: but the wisdom of the Spirit is life and peace,
7 [t]Because the wisdom of the flesh is enmity against God: [u]for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 [v]So then they that are in the flesh, cannot please God.
