Psalm 19

To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David.

¶ The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows the work of his hands.

One day provides a word for the next day, and one night declares wisdom unto the next night.

There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tabernacle for the sun,

which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.

His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

¶ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the rights of the LORD are true, they are all just.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them is thy slave warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13 Keep back thy slave also from pride and arrogance; let them not have dominion over me; then I shall be perfect, and I shall be innocent of the great rebellion.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Exodus 19:1-9

19 ¶ In the third month from when the sons of Israel had gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.

For they had departed from Rephidim and were come to the desert of Sinai and had pitched in the wilderness, and there Israel camped before the mount.

And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel:

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you unto myself.

Now therefore, if ye will give ear to hearken unto my voice and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a special treasure unto me above all peoples; for all the earth is mine.

And ye shall be my kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel.

Then Moses came and called for the elders of the people and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.

And all the people answered together and said, All that the LORD has spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, I come unto thee in a thick cloud that the people may hear when I speak with thee and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

1 Peter 2:4-10

¶ coming unto whom (is the living Stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious),

ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, well pleasing to God by Jesus, the Christ.

Therefore, also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion the chief corner stone, chosen, precious; and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.

Unto you, therefore, who believe he is precious; but unto those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, even to those who stumble at the word, not obeying in that for which they were ordained.

But ye are the chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, an acquired people, that ye should show forth the virtues of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

10 Ye who in the time past were not a people, but are now the people of God, who in the time past had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
