Psalm 111

Praise for God’s Amazing Deeds[a]

111 Hallelujah!
I will give thanks to the Lord with all of my heart
    in the assembled congregation of the upright.
Great are the acts of the Lord;
    they are within reach of[b] all who desire them.
Splendid and glorious are his awesome deeds,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
He is remembered for his awesome deeds;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He prepares food[c] for those who fear him;
    he is ever mindful of his covenant.
He revealed his mighty deeds to his people
    by giving them a country of their own.[d]
Whatever he does is[e] reliable and just,
    and all his precepts are trustworthy,
sustained through all eternity,
    and fashioned in both truth and righteousness.
He sent deliverance to his people;
    he ordained his covenant to last forever;
        his name is holy and awesome.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    sound understanding belongs to those who practice it.
Praise of God[f] endures forever.

Deuteronomy 12:28-32

28 Be sure to observe all these words that I’m commanding you, in order that life may go well for you and your children after you forever, for this is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.”

Don’t Become Ensnared

29 “When the Lord your God eliminates the nations that you are about to dispossess so you can live in their land, 30 after they have been destroyed in your sight, be careful not to be ensnared as they were. Otherwise, you will seek their gods and ask yourselves, ‘How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.’ 31 You must not do the same to the Lord your God, because they practiced in the presence of their gods every sort of abomination that the Lord hates. Moreover, they sacrificed[a] their sons and daughters to their gods. 32 [b]Now as to everything I’m commanding you, you must be careful to observe it. Don’t add to or subtract from it.”

Revelation 2:12-17

The Letter to the Church in Pergamum

12 “To the messenger[a] of the church in Pergamum, write:

‘The one who holds the sharp, two-edged sword, says this:

13 ‘I know where you live. Satan’s throne is there. Yet you hold on to my name and have not denied your faith in me,[b] even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was killed in your presence, where Satan lives. 14 But I have a few things against you: You have there some who hold to the teaching of Balaam, the one who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so that they would eat food sacrificed to idols and practice immorality. 15 You also have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16 So repent. If you don’t, I will come to you quickly and wage war against them with the sword of my mouth.

17 ‘Let everyone[c] listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. I will give some of the hidden manna to everyone who overcomes.’”[d] I will also give him a white stone. On the white stone is written a new name that no one knows except the person who receives it.’”
