Psalm 139:1-6

God’s Omnipresence and Omniscience.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

139 O Lord, You have (A)searched me and known me.
You (B)know [a]when I sit down and [b]when I rise up;
You (C)understand my thought from afar.
You [c](D)scrutinize my [d]path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
[e]Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O Lord, You (E)know it all.
You have (F)enclosed me behind and before,
And (G)laid Your hand upon me.
Such (H)knowledge is (I)too wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot attain to it.

Psalm 139:13-18

13 For You (A)formed my [a]inward parts;
You (B)wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for [b]I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
(C)Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
15 My [c](D)frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the (E)depths of the earth;
16 Your (F)eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in (G)Your book were all written
The (H)days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.

17 How precious also are Your (I)thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would (J)outnumber the sand.
When (K)I awake, I am still with You.

1 Samuel 2:21-25

21 (A)The Lord visited Hannah; and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. And (B)the boy Samuel grew before the Lord.

Eli Rebukes His Sons

22 Now Eli was very old; and he heard (C)all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and how they lay with (D)the women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 23 He said to them, “Why do you do such things, the evil things that I hear from all these people? 24 No, my sons; for the report is not good (E)which I hear [a]the Lord’s people circulating. 25 If one man sins against another, (F)God will mediate for him; but (G)if a man sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for the (H)Lord desired to put them to death.

Matthew 25:1-13

Parable of Ten Virgins

25 “Then (A)the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their (B)lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were (C)prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the (D)prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the (E)prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were (F)ready went in with him to (G)the wedding feast; and (H)the door was shut. 11 Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘(I)Lord, lord, open up for us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 (J)Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.
