Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Psalm 96
1 O sing unto the Lord a new song:
sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing unto the Lord, bless his name;
shew forth his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the heathen,
his wonders among all people.
4 For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised:
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols:
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Honour and majesty are before him:
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7 Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people,
give unto the Lord glory and strength.
8 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name:
bring an offering, and come into his courts.
9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness:
fear before him, all the earth.
10 Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth:
the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved:
he shall judge the people righteously.
11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein:
then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13 before the Lord:
for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth:
he shall judge the world with righteousness,
and the people with his truth.
8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord,
until the day that I rise up to the prey:
for my determination is to gather the nations,
that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation,
even all my fierce anger:
for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language,
that they may all call upon the name of the Lord,
to serve him with one consent.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants,
even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.
11 In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings,
wherein thou hast transgressed against me:
for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride,
and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.
12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people,
and they shall trust in the name of the Lord.
13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies;
neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth:
for they shall feed and lie down,
and none shall make them afraid.
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. 6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7 or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
