Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Thanksgiving for Return from Captivity.
A Song of Ascents.
126 When the Lord (A)brought back [a]the captive ones of Zion,
We were (B)like those who dream.
2 Then our (C)mouth was filled with laughter
And our (D)tongue with joyful shouting;
Then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has (E)done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us;
We are (F)glad.
2 Lord, I have (A)heard [a]the report about You and [b]I (B)fear.
O Lord, (C)revive (D)Your work in the midst of the years,
In the midst of the years make it known;
In wrath remember [c](E)mercy.
3 God comes from (F)Teman,
And the Holy One from Mount (G)Paran. Selah.
His (H)splendor covers the heavens,
And the (I)earth is full of His praise.
4 His (J)radiance is like the sunlight;
He has rays flashing from His hand,
And there is the hiding of His (K)power.
5 Before Him goes (L)pestilence,
And (M)plague comes [d]after Him.
6 He stood and surveyed the earth;
He looked and (N)startled the nations.
Yes, the perpetual mountains were shattered,
The ancient hills [e]collapsed.
His ways are (O)everlasting.
12 Not that I have already (A)obtained it or have already (B)become perfect, but I press on [a]so that I may (C)lay hold of that [b]for which also I (D)was laid hold of by (E)Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: (F)forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I (G)press on toward the goal for the prize of the (H)upward call of God in (I)Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are [c](J)perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a (K)different attitude, (L)God will reveal that also to you; 16 however, let us keep [d](M)living by that same standard to which we have attained.
