New Life Version (NLV)
Version
Psalm 119:41-48

41 May Your loving-kindness also come to me, O Lord. May You save me as Your Word says. 42 Then I will have an answer for the one who puts me to shame, for I trust in Your Word. 43 Do not take the word of truth out of my mouth, for I hope in Your Law. 44 I will always obey Your Law, forever and ever. 45 I will walk as a free man, for I look for Your Law. 46 I will speak of Your Law in front of kings and will not be ashamed. 47 I will be glad in Your Law, which I love. 48 I will lift up my hands to Your Word, which I love, and I will think about Your Law.

Deuteronomy 26:16-27:7

The Lord’s Special People

16 “This day the Lord your God tells you to obey these Laws. Be careful to obey them with all your heart and with all your soul. 17 Today you have said that the Lord is your God, and that you will walk in His ways, keep all His Laws, and listen to His voice. 18 And the Lord today has made it known that you are His own people, as He promised you, and that you should keep all His Laws. 19 He has told you that He will set you high above all the nations He has made. You will be praised, remembered, and honored. You will be a holy nation to the Lord your God, as He has said.”

The Law Written on Stones

27 Then Moses and the leaders of Israel said to the people, “Keep all the Laws which I tell you today. On the day you cross the Jordan to the land the Lord your God gives you, set up large stones and cover them with plaster. Write on them all the words of this Law when you cross the river and go into the land the Lord your God gives you. It is a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, promised you. When you cross the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Ebal and cover them with plaster, as I tell you today. Build an altar of stones there to the Lord your God. Do not work on them with an iron tool. And build the altar of the Lord your God with stones that are not cut. Then give a burnt gift on it to the Lord your God. Give peace gifts and eat there. And be full of joy before the Lord your God.

Matthew 19:16-22

Jesus Teaches about Keeping the Law (A)

16 A man came to Jesus and asked, “Good Teacher, what good work must I do to have life that lasts forever?” 17 Jesus said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One Who is good. If you want to have life that lasts forever, you must obey the Laws.” 18 The man said to Him, “What kind of laws?” Jesus said, “You must not kill another person. You must not be guilty of sex sins. You must not steal. You must not lie. 19 Show respect to your father and your mother. And love your neighbor as you love yourself.” 20 The young man said to Jesus, “I have obeyed all these Laws. What more should I do?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you have and give the money to poor people. Then you will have riches in heaven. Come and follow Me.” 22 When the young man heard these words, he went away sad for he had many riches.
