Psalm 121

The Lord—Our Helper

121 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not let your feet go out from under you. He Who watches over you will not sleep. Listen, He Who watches over Israel will not close his eyes or sleep.

The Lord watches over you. The Lord is your safe cover at your right hand. The sun will not hurt you during the day and the moon will not hurt you during the night. The Lord will keep you from all that is sinful. He will watch over your soul. The Lord will watch over your coming and going, now and forever.

Exodus 13:1-10

The First-Born Given to God

13 The Lord said to Moses, “Set apart to Me every first-born male. The first-born male among the people of Israel, and the first-born male animal are Mine.”

Special Supper of Bread without Yeast

Then Moses said to the people, “Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the land where you were made to stay and work. For the Lord brought you out of this place by a powerful hand. No bread made with yeast will be eaten. This day you are about to go out, in the month of Abib. And the Lord will bring you to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, which He promised to your fathers to give you. It is a land flowing with milk and honey. There you will do this act of worship in this month. For seven days you will eat bread without yeast. On the seventh day there will be a special supper to the Lord. Bread without yeast will be eaten for seven days. Nothing made with yeast will be seen among you. No yeast will be seen among you in all your country. You will say to your son on that day, ‘It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’ It will be a special mark on your hand and on your forehead to make people remember, that the Law of the Lord is to be in your mouth. For the Lord brought you out of Egypt with a powerful hand. 10 So you must keep this Law at the time given for it from year to year.

Matthew 21:18-22

The Fig Tree Dries Up (A)

18 In the morning as He was coming back to the city, He was hungry. 19 He saw a fig tree by the side of the road and went to it. There was nothing on it but leaves. He said to the tree, “No fruit will ever grow on you again.” At once the fig tree dried up. 20 The followers saw it and were surprised and wondered. They said, “How did the fig tree dry up so fast?” 21 Jesus said to them, “For sure, I tell you this: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only be able to do what was done to the fig tree. You will also be able to say to this mountain, ‘Move from here and be thrown into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 All things you ask for in prayer, you will receive if you have faith.”
