Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
8 Also, those who dwell in the uttermost parts shall be afraid of Your signs. You shall make the outgoings of the morning and the evening rejoice.
9 You visit the Earth and water it. You make it very rich. The river of God is full of water. You prepare their grain, for so You have appointed it.
10 You water the furrows thereof abundantly. You cause the rain to descend into the valleys thereof. You make it soft with showers and bless the bud thereof.
11 You crown the year with Your goodness; and Your steps drop fatness.
12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness; and the hills shall be surrounded with gladness.
13 The pastures are clad with sheep. The valleys, also, shall be covered with grain. They shout for joy and sing. To him who excels: A song or psalm
37 Then Jacob took rods of green poplar, and of hazel, and of the chestnut tree, and peeled white strips in them, and made the white appear in the rods.
38 Then he put the rods which he had peeled in the gutters and watering troughs where the sheep came to drink, so they could conceive (for they were in heat, when they came to drink).
39 And the sheep were in heat before the rods; and they brought forth young of parti-color and with small and great spots.
40 And Jacob parted these lambs and turned the faces of the flock toward the parti-colored and all manner of black among the sheep of Laban. So, he put his own flock by themselves, and did not put them with Laban’s flock.
41 And in every ramming time of the stronger sheep, Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the sheep in the gutters, so that they might conceive before the rods.
42 But when the sheep were feeble, he did not put them in. And so, the feebler were Laban’s, and the stronger Jacob’s.
43 So the man increased exceedingly, and had many flocks, and maid servants, and men servants, and camels, and donkeys.
10 Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceit of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the kings, against the authorities, and against the rulers of the darkness of this world; against the spiritual forces of iniquity which are in the high place.
13 For this reason take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on the evil day. And having finished all things, stand fast.
14 Stand therefore, having wrapped your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.
16 Above all, take the shield of Faith, with which you may quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
18 And pray always, with all manner of prayer and supplication, in the Spirit. And watch for this very thing - with all perseverance and supplication - for all Saints
