105 O give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people.
2 Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him; talk ye of all His wondrous works.
3 Glory ye in His holy name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
4 Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore.
5 Remember His marvelous works that He hath done, His wonders and the judgments of His mouth,
6 O ye seed of Abraham, His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen.
7 He is the Lord our God; His judgments are over all the earth.
8 He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations,
9 which covenant He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac,
10 and confirmed the same unto Jacob as a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, “Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance,”
45 that they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise ye the Lord!
31 And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
32 And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben [that is, See a son]; for she said, “Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction. Now therefore my husband will love me.”
33 And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Because the Lord hath heard that I was hated, He hath therefore given me this son also.” And she called his name Simeon [that is, Hearing].
34 And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore was his name called Levi [that is, Joined].
35 And she conceived again and bore a son; and she said, “Now will I praise the Lord.” Therefore she called his name Judah [that is, Praise], and ceased bearing.
30 And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said unto Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die.”
2 And Jacob’s anger was kindled against Rachel; and he said, “Am I in God’s stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?”
3 And she said, “Behold my maid Bilhah. Go in unto her, and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.”
4 And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid for a wife; and Jacob went in unto her.
5 And Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son.
6 And Rachel said, “God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice and hath given me a son.” Therefore she called his name Dan [that is, Judging].
7 And Bilhah, Rachel’s maid, conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.
8 And Rachel said, “With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed.” And she called his name Naphtali [that is, My wrestling].
9 When Leah saw that she had ceased bearing, she took Zilpah her maid and gave her to Jacob for a wife;
10 and Zilpah, Leah’s maid, bore Jacob a son.
11 And Leah said, “A troop cometh.” And she called his name Gad [that is, A troop or company].
12 And Zilpah, Leah’s maid, bore Jacob a second son.
13 And Leah said, “Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed.” And she called his name Asher [that is, Happy].
14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes.”
15 But she said unto her, “Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? And wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also?” And Rachel said, “Therefore he shall lie with thee tonight, for thy son’s mandrakes.”
16 And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him and said, “Thou must come in unto me, for surely I have hired thee with my son’s mandrakes.” And he lay with her that night.
17 And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob the fifth son.
18 And Leah said, “God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband.” And she called his name Issachar [that is, A hire].
19 And Leah conceived again and bore Jacob the sixth son.
20 And Leah said, “God hath endued me with a good dowry. Now will my husband dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons.” And she called his name Zebulun [that is, Dwelling].
21 And afterwards she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah [that is, Judgment].
22 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her and opened her womb.
23 And she conceived and bore a son, and said, “God hath taken away my reproach.”
24 And she called his name Joseph [that is, Adding], and said, “The Lord shall add to me another son.”
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, “Master, we would see a sign from thee.”
39 But He answered and said unto them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in the Judgment with this generation and shall condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the Judgment with this generation and shall condemn it, for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
