Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
He
33 (A)Instruct me, O Yahweh, in the way of Your statutes,
That I may observe it to the end.
34 (B)Cause me to understand, that I may (C)observe Your law
And keep it (D)with all my heart.
35 Cause me to walk in the (E)path of Your commandments,
For I (F)delight in it.
36 (G)Cause my heart to incline to Your testimonies
And not to (H)dishonest gain.
37 Cause my (I)eyes to turn away from looking at worthlessness,
And (J)revive me in Your ways.
38 (K)Cause Your [a]word to be established for Your slave,
[b]As that which produces fear for You.
39 (L)Cause my reproach which I dread to pass away,
For Your judgments are good.
40 Behold, I (M)long for Your precepts;
Revive me in Your righteousness.
21 “(A)You shall not mistreat a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 22 (B)You shall not afflict any widow or orphan. 23 And if you indeed afflict him, and (C)if he earnestly cries out to Me, (D)I will surely hear his cry; 24 and My anger will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, (E)and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
25 “(F)If you lend money to My people, to the afflicted [a]among you, you are not to [b]act as a creditor to him; you shall not [c]charge him (G)interest. 26 If you ever take your neighbor’s cloak (H)as a pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun sets, 27 for that is his only covering; it is his cloak for his [d]body. What else shall he sleep in? And it shall be that (I)when he cries out to Me, I will hear him, for (J)I am gracious.
23 (A)All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things (B)build up. 24 Let no one (C)seek his own good, but that of the other person. 25 (D)Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions for conscience’ sake. 26 (E)For the earth is the [a]Lord’s, as well as its fullness. 27 If (F)one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, (G)eat anything that is set before you without asking questions for conscience’ sake. 28 But (H)if anyone says to you, “This is meat consecrated to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for conscience’ sake. 29 I do not mean your own conscience, but the other person’s. For (I)why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience? 30 If I partake with gratefulness, (J)why am I slandered concerning that for which I (K)give thanks?
31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or (L)whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 (M)Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to (N)the church of God; 33 just as I also (O)please all men in all things, (P)not seeking my own profit but the profit of the many, (Q)so that they may be saved.
11 (R)Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.
