Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
76 In Judah is God known; His name is great in Israel.
2 In Salem also is His tabernacle, and His dwelling place in Zion.
3 There broke He the arrows of the bow, the shield and the sword and the battle. Selah
4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
5 The stouthearted are despoiled; they have slept their sleep, and none of the men of might have found their hands.
6 At Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
7 Thou, Thou alone, art to be feared; and who may stand in Thy sight when once Thou art angry?
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared and was still,
9 when God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah
10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise Thee; the remainder of wrath shalt Thou restrain.
11 Make vows, and pay them unto the Lord your God; let all that be round about Him bring presents unto Him that ought to be feared.
12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes; He is fearsome to the kings of the earth.
66 Thus saith the Lord, “The heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool. Where is the house that ye build unto Me? And where is the place of My rest?
2 For all those things hath Mine hand made, and all those things have been,” saith the Lord. “But to this man will I look: even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at My word.
3 “He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol— yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them, because when I called, none did answer, when I spoke, they did not hear; but they did evil before Mine eyes and chose that in which I delighted not.”
5 Hear the word of the Lord, ye that tremble at His word: “Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for My name’s sake, said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, when He shall appear to your joy’; and they shall be ashamed.”
6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the Lord that rendereth recompense to His enemies.
7 “Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a manchild.
8 Who hath heard such a thing? Who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
9 Shall I bring to birth and not cease to bring forth?” saith the Lord. “Shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb?” saith thy God.
10 “Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her; rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her;
11 that ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.”
12 For thus saith the Lord, “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream; then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.
13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient. All things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify.
24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wellbeing.
25 Whatsoever is sold in the meat market, that eat, asking no question for conscience’ sake;
26 for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”
27 If any of those who do not believe bid you to a feast, and ye are disposed to go, whatsoever is set before you eat, asking no question for conscience’ sake.
28 But if any man say unto you, “This is offered in sacrifice unto idols,” then eat it not for his sake who showed it, and for conscience’ sake; for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”
29 I do not mean thine own conscience, but the other’s. For why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience?
30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why is evil spoken of me for that for which I give thanks?
31 Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Give no offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God,
33 even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
