O God, Do Not Be Quiet
A Song. A Psalm of Asaph.
83 O God, (A)do not remain at rest;
(B)Do not be silent and, O God, do not be quiet.
2 For behold, Your enemies (C)roar,
And (D)those who hate You have (E)lifted up their heads.
3 They (F)make shrewd plans against Your people,
And [a]conspire together against (G)Your [b]treasured ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and (H)let us wipe them out [c]as a nation,
That the (I)name of Israel be remembered no more.”
5 For they have [d](J)conspired together with one heart;
Against You they cut a covenant:
6 The tents of (K)Edom and the (L)Ishmaelites,
(M)Moab and the (N)Hagrites;
7 (O)Gebal and (P)Ammon and (Q)Amalek,
(R)Philistia with the inhabitants of (S)Tyre;
8 (T)Assyria also has joined with them;
They have become [e]the power of the (U)children of Lot. [f]Selah.
9 Do to them (V)as to Midian,
As (W)to Sisera, and Jabin at the river of Kishon,
10 Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who (X)were as dung for the ground.
11 Make their nobles like (Y)Oreb and Zeeb
And all their princes like (Z)Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 Who said, “(AA)Let us possess for ourselves
The (AB)pastures of God.”
13 O my God, make them like the [g](AC)whirling dust,
Like (AD)chaff before the wind.
14 Like (AE)fire that burns the forest
And like a flame that (AF)burns up the mountains,
15 So pursue them (AG)with Your tempest
And dismay them with Your storm.
16 (AH)Fill their faces with disgrace,
That they may seek Your name, O Yahweh.
17 Let them be (AI)ashamed and dismayed forever,
And let them be humiliated and perish,
18 That they may (AJ)know that (AK)You alone—Your name is Yahweh—
Are the (AL)Most High over all the earth.
5 “Then I will draw near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the (A)sorcerers and against the (B)adulterers and against those who (C)swear falsely and against those who oppress the (D)wage earner in his wages, the (E)widow and the [a]orphan, and those who turn aside the (F)sojourner and do not [b]fear Me,” says Yahweh of hosts. 6 “For [c]I, Yahweh, (G)do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, [d]are not consumed.
You Have Robbed God
7 “From the (H)days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. (I)Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says Yahweh of hosts. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’
8 “Will a man [e]rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In (J)tithes and [f]contributions. 9 You are (K)cursed with a curse, for you are [g]robbing Me, the whole nation of you! 10 (L)Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be [h]food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says Yahweh of hosts, “if I will not (M)open for you the windows of heaven and (N)empty out for you a blessing until [i](O)it is beyond enough. 11 Then I will rebuke the (P)devourer for you so that it will not corrupt the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field [j]fail to bear,” says Yahweh of hosts. 12 “(Q)So all the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a (R)delightful land,” says Yahweh of hosts.
Jesus Heals a Paralytic
2 And when He had come back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that He was at home. 2 And (A)many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them. 3 (B)And they *came, bringing to Him a (C)paralytic, carried by four men. 4 And being unable to bring him to [a]Jesus because of the crowd, they (D)removed the roof over where He was; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the mat where the (E)paralytic was lying. 5 And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, “Child, (F)your sins are forgiven.” 6 But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; (G)who can forgive sins [b]but God alone?” 8 Immediately Jesus, aware [c]in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, *said to them, “Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the (H)paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven’; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your mat and walk’? 10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He *said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, get up, pick up your mat, and go to your home.” 12 And he got up and immediately picked up the mat and went out before everyone, so that they were all amazed and (I)were glorifying God, saying, “(J)We have never seen anything like this.”
