God Implored to Confound His Enemies.

83 God, (A)do not remain quiet;
(B)Do not be silent and, God, do not be still.
2 For behold, Your enemies (C)make an uproar,
And (D)those who hate You have [a](E)exalted themselves.
3 They (F)make shrewd plans against Your people,
And [b]conspire together against (G)Your [c]treasured ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and (H)let’s wipe them out [d]as a nation,
So that the (I)name of Israel will no longer be remembered.”
5 For they have [e](J)conspired together with one mind;
They make a covenant against You:
6 The tents of (K)Edom and the (L)Ishmaelites,
(M)Moab and the (N)Hagrites;
7 (O)Gebal, (P)Ammon, and (Q)Amalek,
(R)Philistia with the inhabitants of (S)Tyre;
8 (T)Assyria also has joined them;
They have become [f]a help to the (U)children of Lot. Selah
9 Deal with them (V)as with Midian,
As (W)with Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon,
10 Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who (X)became like dung for the ground.
11 Make their nobles like (Y)Oreb and Zeeb,
And all their leaders like (Z)Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 Who said, “(AA)Let’s possess for ourselves
The (AB)pastures of God.”
13 My God, make them like the [g](AC)whirling dust,
Like (AD)chaff before the wind.
14 Like (AE)fire that burns the forest,
And like a flame that (AF)sets the mountains on fire,
15 So pursue them (AG)with Your heavy gale,
And terrify them with Your storm.
16 (AH)Fill their faces with dishonor,
So that they will seek Your name, Lord.
17 May they be (AI)ashamed and dismayed forever,
And may they be humiliated and perish,
18 So that they will (AJ)know that (AK)You alone, whose name is the Lord,
Are the (AL)Most High over all the earth.
31 Now (A)Barzillai the Gileadite had come down from Rogelim; and he went on to the Jordan with the king to [a]escort him over the Jordan. 32 Barzillai was very old: eighty years old; and he had (B)provided the king food while he stayed in Mahanaim, for he was a very great man. 33 So the king said to Barzillai, “You cross over with me, and I will provide you food in Jerusalem with me.” 34 But Barzillai said to the king, “(C)How long [b]do I still have to live, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem? 35 I am [c]now (D)eighty years old. Can I distinguish between good and bad? Or can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Or can I still hear (E)the voice of men and women singing? (F)Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king? 36 Your servant would merely cross over the Jordan with the king. So why should the king compensate me with this reward? 37 Please let your servant return, so that I may die in my own city near the grave of my father and my mother. However, here is your servant (G)Chimham; let him cross over with my lord the king, and do for him what is good in your sight.” 38 And the king answered, “Chimham shall cross over with me, and I will do for him what is good in your sight; and whatever you [d]require of me, I will do for you.” 39 All the people crossed over the Jordan and the king crossed too. The king then (H)kissed Barzillai and blessed him, and he returned to his place.
40 Now the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him; and all the people of Judah and also (I)half the people of Israel [e]accompanied the king. 41 And behold, all the men of Israel came to the king and said to the king, “(J)Why have our brothers, (K)the men of Judah, abducted you and brought the king and his household and all David’s men with him, over the Jordan?” 42 Then all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because (L)the king is a close relative to [f]us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all [g]at the king’s expense, or has anything been taken for us?” 43 But the men of Israel answered the men of Judah and said, “[h](M)We have ten parts in the king, therefore [i]we also have more claim on David than you. Why then did you treat [j]us with contempt? Was it not [k]our [l]advice first to bring back [m]our king?” Yet the words of the men of Judah were harsher than the words of the men of Israel.
10 For all who are of works of [a]the Law are under a curse; for it is written: “(A)Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all the things written in the book of the Law, to do them.” 11 Now, that (B)no one is justified [b]by [c]the Law before God is evident; for, “[d](C)the righteous one will live by faith.” 12 [e]However, the Law is not [f]of faith; on the contrary, “(D)The person who performs [g]them will live by [h]them.” 13 Christ (E)redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written: “(F)Cursed is everyone who hangs on (G)a [i]tree”— 14 in order that (H)in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we (I)would receive (J)the promise of the Spirit through faith.
