Psalm 83

83 1 The people of Israel pray unto the Lord to deliver them from their enemies both at home and far off, which imagined nothing but their destruction. 9 And they desire that all such wicked people may according as God was accustomed, be stricken with the stormy tempest of God’s wrath, 18 That they may know that the Lord is most high upon the earth.

A song or Psalm committed to Asaph.

Keep [a]not thou silence, O God: be not still, and cease not, O God.

For lo, thine [b]enemies make a tumult, and they that hate thee, have lifted up the head.

They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy [c]secret ones.

They have said, Come and let us [d]cut them off from being a nation: and let the name of Israel be no more in remembrance.

For they have consulted together in [e]heart, and have made a league [f]against thee:

The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites:

Gebal and Ammon, and Amalek, the Philistines, with the inhabitants of [g]Tyre.

Assyria also is joined with them: they have been an arm to the children [h]of Lot. Selah.

Do thou to them as unto the [i]Midianites: as to Sisera and as to Jabin at the river of Kishon.

10 They perished at En Dor, and were [j]dung for the earth.

11 Make them, even their princes, like (A)Oreb and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes like Zebah and like Zalmunna,

12 Which have said, Let us take for our possession the [k]habitations of God.

13 O my God, make them like unto a [l]wheel, and as the stubble before the wind.

14 As the fire burneth the forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire:

15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

16 Fill their faces with shame, that they may [m]seek thy Name, O Lord.

17 Let them be confounded and troubled forever: yea, let them be put to shame, and perish,

18 That they may [n]know that thou, which art calleth Jehovah, art alone, even the most High over all the earth.

2 Samuel 19:31-43

31 ¶ Then Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.

32 Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old, and he had provided the king of sustenance, while he lay at Mahanaim: for he was a man of very great substance.

33 And the king said unto Barzillai, Come over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

34 And Barzillai said unto the king, [a]How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

35 I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good or evil? Hath thy servant any taste in that I eat, or in that I drink? Can I hear anymore the voice of singing men and women? wherefore then should thy servant be anymore a [b]burthen unto my lord the king?

36 Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king, and why will the king recompense it me with such a reward?

37 I pray thee, let thy servant turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried in the grave of my father and of my mother: but behold thy servant [c]Chimham, let him go with my lord the King, and do to him what shall please thee.

38 And the king answered, Chimham shall go with me, and I will do to him that thou shalt be content with: and whatsoever thou shalt [d]require of me, that will I do for thee.

39 So all the people went over Jordan: and the king passed over: and the king kissed Barzillai, and [e]blessed him, and he returned unto his own place.

40 ¶ Then the King went to [f]Gilgal, and Chimham went with him, and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of [g]Israel.

41 And behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king and his household, and all David’s men with him over [h]Jordan?

42 And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: and wherefore now be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten of the king’s cost, or have we taken any bribes?

43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and have also more right to David than ye: Why then did ye despise us [i]that our advise should not be first had in restoring our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

Galatians 3:10-14

10 [a]For as many as are of the works of the Law, are under the curse: [b]For it is written, (A)Cursed is every man that continueth not in all things, which are written in the book of the Law, to do them.

11 [c]And that no man is justified by the Law in the sight of God, it is evident: (B)for the just shall live by faith.

12 [d]And the Law is not of faith: but (C)the man that shall do those things, shall live in them.

13 [e]Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the Law, made a curse for us, ([f]for it is written, (D)[g]Cursed is everyone that hangeth on tree.)

14 [h]That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
