1 Kings 21:1-10

21 ¶ And it came to pass after these things that Naboth of Jezreel had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria.

And Ahab spoke unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard that I may have it for a garden of herbs because it is next to my house, and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or if it seems good unto thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.

And Naboth replied unto Ahab, The LORD keep me from giving thee the inheritance of my fathers.

And Ahab came into his house, sad and angry, because of the word which Naboth of Jezreel had spoken to him, for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he lay down upon his bed and turned away his face and would eat no bread.

¶ And Jezebel, his wife, came to him and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad that thou dost eat no bread?

And he said unto her, Because I spoke with Naboth of Jezreel and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it; and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

And Jezebel, his wife, said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? Arise and eat bread and let thy heart be merry; I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreel.

So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city dwelling with Naboth.

And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast and set Naboth at the head of the people

10 and set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out and stone him that he may die.

1 Kings 21:11-14

11 And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

12 They proclaimed a fast and set Naboth at the head of the people.

13 Then the two men, sons of Belial, came in and sat before him; and those men of Belial witnessed against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth blasphemed God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones that he died.

14 Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth has been stoned and is dead.

1 Kings 21:15-21

15 And it came to pass when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead that she said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreel which he refused to give thee for money, for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

16 And it came to pass when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreel, to take possession of it.

17 ¶ Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah, the Tishbite, saying,

18 Arise, go down to meet Ahab, king of Israel, who is in Samaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he is gone down to possess it.

19 And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus hath the LORD said, Hast thou murdered and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him again, saying, Thus hath the LORD said, In the same place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall the dogs also lick thy blood, even thine.

20 And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found thee because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee and will burn away thy posterity and will cut off from Ahab him that pisses against the wall and he that is kept and he that is left in Israel.

Psalm 5:1-8

To the Overcomer upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David.

¶ Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my meditation.

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God, for unto thee will I pray.

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; early will I present myself unto thee and wait.

For thou art not a God that loves wickedness; neither shall one who is evil dwell with thee.

The foolish (those who are governed by carnal thoughts or desires) shall not stand in thy sight; thou dost hate all workers of iniquity.

Thou shalt destroy those that speak lies: the LORD will abominate the bloody and deceitful man.

¶ But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear I will worship toward thy holy temple.

Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

Galatians 2:15-21

15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

17 But if, while we seek to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of our sin? No, in no wise.

18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a rebel.

19 For through the law I am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

21 I do not reject the grace of God, for if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Luke 7:36-8:3

36 ¶ And one of the Pharisees asked him if he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house and sat down to food.

37 And, behold, a woman who had been a sinner in the city, when she knew that Jesus sat at food in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38 and stood at his feet behind him weeping and began to wash his feet with tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.

39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches him, for she is a sinner.

40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have something to say unto thee. And he said, Master, say on.

41 There was a certain creditor who had two debtors: the one owed five hundred denarius, and the other fifty.

42 And when they had nothing to pay, he released them both from their debt. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

44 And he turned to the woman and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house, thou didst give me no water for my feet; but she has washed my feet with tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

45 Thou gavest me no kiss; but this woman since the time I came in has not ceased to kiss my feet.

46 Thou didst not anoint my head with oil; but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.

47 Therefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much; but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.

48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

49 And those that sat at food with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgives sins also?

50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith has saved thee; go in peace.

¶ And it came to pass afterward that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and announcing the gospel of the kingdom of God, and the twelve with him,

and certain women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who ministered unto him of their substance.
