Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
How Good and Pleasant Is Unity
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For (A)brothers to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the good (B)oil upon the head,
Coming down upon the beard,
Aaron’s beard,
Coming down upon the (C)edge of his robes.
3 It is like the (D)dew of (E)Hermon
Coming down upon the (F)mountains of Zion;
For there, Yahweh (G)commanded the blessing—(H)life forever.
Various Statutes
9 ‘(A)Now when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 Nor shall you glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the afflicted and for the sojourner. I am Yahweh your God.
11 ‘(B)You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, (C)nor lie to one another. 12 (D)And you shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to (E)profane the name of your God; I am Yahweh.
13 ‘(F)You shall not oppress your neighbor nor rob him. (G)The wages of a hired man shall not remain with you overnight until morning. 14 You shall not curse a deaf man nor (H)place a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God; I am Yahweh.
15 ‘(I)You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor nor defer to the great, but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness. 16 You shall not go about as (J)a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand against the [a](K)life of your neighbor; I am Yahweh.
17 ‘You (L)shall not hate your brother in your heart; you (M)may surely reprove your neighbor, and so not bear sin because of him. 18 (N)You shall not take vengeance, (O)and you shall not keep your anger against the sons of your people, but (P)you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am Yahweh.
The Good Samaritan
25 (A)And behold, a (B)scholar of the Law stood up and was putting Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he answered and said, “(C)You shall love the [a]Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; (D)do this and you will live.”
