Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
30 1 When David was delivered, from great danger, he rendered thanks to God, exhorting others to do the like, and to learn by his example, that God is rather merciful than severe and rigorous towards his children. 7 And also that the fall from prosperity to adversity is sudden. 8 This done, he returneth to prayer, promising to praise God forever.
(A)A Psalm or song of the (B)dedication of the [a]house of David.
1 I will magnify thee, O Lord: [b]thou hast exalted me, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast [c]restored me.
3 O Lord, thou hast brought up my [d]soul out of the grave: thou hast revived me from them that go down into the pit.
4 Sing praises unto the Lord, ye [e]his Saints, and give thanks [f]before the remembrance of his Holiness.
5 (C)For he endureth but a while in his anger: but in his favor is life: weeping may abide at evening, but joy cometh in the morning.
6 And in my [g]prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
7 For thou Lord of thy goodness hadst made my [h]mountain to stand strong: but thou didst hide thy face, and I [i]was troubled.
8 Then cried I unto thee, O Lord, and prayed to my Lord.
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit! shall the [j]dust give thanks unto thee? or shall it declare thy truth?
10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou mine helper.
11 Thou hast turned my mourning into joy: thou hast loosed my sack, and girded me with gladness.
12 Therefore shall my [k]tongue praise thee and not cease: O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever.
21 But if he be poor, and not [a]able, then he shall bring one lamb for a trespass offering to be shaken, for his reconciliation, and a [b]tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil, for a meat offering, with a pint of oil.
22 Also two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, as he is able, whereof the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering,
23 And he shall bring them the eighth day for his cleansing unto the Priest at the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation before the Lord.
24 Then the Priest shall take the lamb of the trespass offering, and the pint of oil, and the Priest shall [c]shake them to and fro before the Lord.
25 And he shall kill the lamb of the trespass offering, and the Priest shall take of the blood of the trespass offering, and put it upon the lap of his right ear that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot.
26 Also the Priest shall pour of the oil into the palm of his own [d]left hand.
27 So the Priest shall with his right finger sprinkle of the oil that is in his left hand, seven times before the Lord.
28 Then the Priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand, upon the lap of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot: upon the place [e]of the blood of the trespass offering.
29 But the rest of the oil that is in the Priest’s hand, he shall put upon the head of him that is to be cleansed, to make an atonement for him before the Lord.
30 Also he shall present one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons, [f]as he is able.
31 Such, I say, as he is able, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, [g]with the meat offering: so the Priest shall make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed before the Lord.
32 This is the [h]Law of him which hath the plague of leprosy, who is not able in his cleansing to offer the whole.
6 ¶ (A)[a]And when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 [b]There came unto him a woman, which had a [c]box of very costly ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at the table.
8 And when his [d]disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, What needed this [e]waste?
9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and been given to the poor.
10 [f]And Jesus knowing it, said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
11 (B)[g]For ye have the poor always with you, but me shall ye not have always.
12 For [h]in that she poured this ointment on my body, she did it to bury me.
13 Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached throughout all the world, there shall also this that she hath done, be spoken of for a memorial of her.
