⁸ Thus saith the Lord: In an acceptable time I have heard thee, and in the day of salvation I have helped thee: and I have preserved thee, and given thee to be a covenant of the people, that thou mightest raise up the earth, and possess the inheritances that were destroyed:

⁹ That thou mightest say to them that are bound: Come forth: and to them that are in darkness: shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in every plain.

¹⁰ They shall not hunger, nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor the sun strike them: for he that is merciful to them, shall be their shepherd, and at the fountains of waters he shall give them drink.

¹¹ And I will make all my mountains a way, and my paths shall be exalted.

¹² Behold these shall come from afar, and behold these from the north and from the sea, and these from the south country.

¹³ Give praise, O ye heavens, and rejoice, O earth, ye mountains, give praise with jubilation: because the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy on his poor ones.

¹⁴ And Sion said: The Lord hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me.

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her infant, so as not to have pity on the son of her womb? and if she should forget, yet will not I forget thee.

¹⁶ Behold, I have graven thee in my hands: thy walls are always before my eyes.

131 O Lord, remember David, and all his meekness.

² How he swore to the Lord, he vowed a vow to the God of Jacob:

³ If I shall enter into the tabernacle of my house: if I shall go up into the bed wherein I lie:

⁴ If I shall give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,

⁵ Or rest to my temples: until I find out a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

⁶ Behold we have heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the wood.

⁷ We will go into his tabernacle: We will adore in the place where his feet stood.

⁸ Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place: thou and the ark, which thou hast sanctified.

⁹ Let thy priests be clothed with justice: and let thy saints rejoice.

¹⁰ For thy servant David's sake, turn not away the face of thy anointed.

¹¹ The Lord hath sworn truth to David, and he will not make it void: of the fruit of thy womb I will set upon thy throne.

¹² If thy children will keep thy covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them: Their children also for evermore shall sit upon thy throne.

¹³ For the Lord hath chosen Sion: he hath chosen it for his dwelling.

¹⁴ This is my rest for ever and ever: here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.

¹⁵ Blessing, I will bless her widow: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

¹⁶ I will clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall rejoice with exceeding great joy.

¹⁷ There will I bring forth a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.

¹⁸ His enemies I will clothe with confusion: but upon him will my sanctification flourish.

4 Let a man so account of us as of the ministers of Christ, and the dispensers of the mysteries of God.

² Here now it is required among the dispensers, that a man be found faithful.

³ But to me it is a very small thing to be judged by you, or by man's day; but neither do I judge my own self.

⁴ For I am not conscious to myself of any thing, yet am I not hereby justified; but he that judgeth me, is the Lord.

⁵ Therefore judge not before the time; until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every man have praise from God.

²⁴ No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

²⁵ Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment?

²⁶ Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?

²⁷ And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit?

²⁸ And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin.

²⁹ But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.

³⁰ And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?

³¹ Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?

³² For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.

³³ Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.

³⁴ Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
