⁸ Thus saith Jehovah: In a time of acceptance have I answered thee, and in the day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the land, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

⁹ saying to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pasture shall be on all bare hills.

¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor sun smite them; for he that hath mercy on them will lead them, and by the springs of water will he guide them.

¹¹ And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be raised up.

¹² Behold, these shall come from afar; and behold, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

¹³ Shout, ye heavens; and be joyful, thou earth; and break forth into singing, ye mountains: for Jehovah hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted ones.

¹⁴ But Zion said, Jehovah hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me.

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Even these forget, but I will not forget thee.

¹⁶ Lo, I have graven thee upon the palms of [my] hands; thy walls are continually before me.

131 Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, and in things too wonderful for me.

² Surely I have restrained and composed my soul, like a weaned child with its mother: my soul within me is as a weaned child.

³ Let Israel hope in Jehovah, from henceforth and for evermore.

4 Let a man so account of us as servants of Christ, and stewards of [the] mysteries of God.

² Here, further, it is sought in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

³ But for me it is the very smallest matter that I be examined of you or of man's day. Nor do I even examine myself.

⁴ For I am conscious of nothing in myself; but I am not justified by this: but he that examines me is the Lord.

⁵ So that do not judge anything before [the] time, until the Lord shall come, who shall also both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and shall make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then shall each have [his] praise from God.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

²⁵ For this cause I say unto you, Do not be careful about your life, what ye should eat and what ye should drink; nor for your body what ye should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?

²⁶ Look at the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are *ye* not much more excellent than they?

²⁷ But which of you by carefulness can add to his growth one cubit?

²⁸ And why are ye careful about clothing? Observe with attention the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin;

²⁹ but I say unto you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these.

³⁰ But if God so clothe the herbage of the field, which is to-day, and to-morrow is cast into [the] oven, will he not much rather you, O [ye] of little faith?

³¹ Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?

³² for all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

³⁴ Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day [is] its own evil.
