To the Overcomer, A Psalm or Song of David.

¹ ¶ Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; let those that hate him flee before him.

² As smoke is driven away; so drive them away: as wax melts before the fire, so shall the wicked perish at the presence of God.

³ But the righteous shall be glad; they shall rejoice before God; they shall dance with joy.

⁴ Sing unto God, sing psalms unto his name; extol him that rides upon the heavens by his name JAH and rejoice before him.

⁵ A father of the fatherless and a defender of the widows is God in his holy habitation.

⁶ God sets the solitary in families; he brings out those who are bound with chains, but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

⁷ ¶ O God, when thou didst go forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:

⁸ The earth shook, the heavens also dropped their rain at the presence of God; even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

⁹ Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, by which thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

¹⁰ Thy presence was in thy congregation; thou, O God, by thy goodness thou hast provided for the poor.

¹⁹ Blessed be the Lord, who daily lades us with benefits, even the God of our saving health. Selah.

²⁰ He that is our God is the God of salvation, and unto GOD the Lord belongs the way of escape from death.

22 ¶ Then Eliphaz, the Temanite, answered and said,

² Can a man be profitable unto God? For he that is wise is profitable unto himself.

³ Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that thou art justified? Or is it gain to him that thou makest thy ways perfect?

⁴ Will he reprove thee or will he enter with thee into judgment because he fears thee?

⁵ ¶ Certainly thy wickedness is great and thine iniquities have no end.

⁶ For thou didst take a pledge from thy brother without cause and stripped the naked of their clothing.

⁷ Thou didst not give water to drink to the weary, and thou hast withheld bread from the hungry.

⁸ But the man of means had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

⁹ Thou hast sent the widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

¹⁰ Therefore, snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubles thee

¹¹ or darkness, that thou canst not see, and abundance of waters cover thee.

¹² Is not God in the height of the heavens? Behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

¹³ And thou shalt say, What does God know? How can he judge through the darkness?

¹⁴ Thick clouds are his hiding place, and he does not see; and he walks in the circuit of heaven.

¹⁵ ¶ Dost thou desire to keep the old way which wicked men have trodden?

¹⁶ Who were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood.

¹⁷ Who said unto God, Depart from us; and what can the Almighty do unto us?

¹⁸ He had filled their houses with good things. Therefore, the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

¹⁹ The righteous shall see it and be glad; and the innocent laughs them to scorn.

²⁰ Whereas our substance was not cut down, when the fire had consumed the rest of them.

2 ¶ Then fourteen years later I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas and took Titus with me also.

² But I went up by revelation and communicated unto them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who seemed to be of repute, to not run, or have run, in vain.

³ But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised,

⁴ And that in spite of the false brethren, who entered secretly to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus that they might bring us into bondage;

⁵ Unto whom we did not submit even for one hour that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.

⁶ But of these who seemed to be of repute, (whatever they were, it makes no matter to me: God does not accept the appearance of men), for those who seemed to be of repute in conference added nothing to me;

⁷ But to the contrary, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter

⁸ (for he that showed himself forth in Peter for apostleship of the circumcision, the same also showed himself forth in me toward the Gentiles);

⁹ and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision.

¹⁰ Only they asked that we should remember the poor; the same which I was also diligent to do.
