Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Generations of Noah
9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a (A)righteous man, [a](B)blameless among those in his generations; Noah (C)walked with God. 10 And Noah [b]became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 Now the earth was (D)corrupt before God, and the earth was (E)filled with violence. 12 And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for (F)all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth.
13 Then God said to Noah, “(G)The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. 14 Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and you shall [c]cover it inside and out with pitch. 15 Now this is how you shall make it: the length of the ark [d]300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. 16 You shall make a [e]window for the ark, and complete it to one [f]cubit from [g]the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17 As for Me, behold (H)I am bringing the flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall breathe its last. 18 But I will establish (I)My covenant with you; and (J)you shall enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 19 (K)And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. 20 (L)Of the birds after their kind, and of the animals after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. 21 As for you, take for yourself some of all (M)food which is edible, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be for food for you and for them.” 22 (N)Thus Noah did; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did.
24 (A)And the water prevailed upon the earth 150 days.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. 15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying, 16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. 17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may (A)swarm on the earth, and that they may be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” 18 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him. 19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out [a]by their families from the ark.
God Is Our Refuge and Strength
For the choir director. Of the sons of Korah. [a]According to Alamoth. A Song.
46 God is our (A)refuge and strength,
[b]A very (B)present help (C)in [c]trouble.
2 Therefore we will (D)not fear, though (E)the earth should change
And though (F)the mountains shake into the heart of the [d]sea;
3 Though its (G)waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its lofty pride. [e]Selah.
4 There is a (H)river whose streams make glad the (I)city of God,
The holy (J)dwelling places of the Most High.
5 God is (K)in the midst of her, she will not be shaken;
God will (L)help her [f]when morning dawns.
6 The [g]nations (M)roar, the kingdoms shake;
He (N)gives His voice, the earth (O)melts.
7 Yahweh of hosts (P)is with us;
The God of Jacob is (Q)our stronghold. Selah.
8 Come, (R)behold the works of Yahweh,
[h]Who has appointed (S)desolations in the earth.
9 He (T)makes wars to cease to the end of the earth;
He (U)breaks the bow and cuts up the spear;
He (V)burns the chariots with fire.
10 “[i]Cease striving and (W)know that I am God;
I will be (X)exalted among the [j]nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 Yahweh of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.
22 even the (A)righteousness of God through (B)faith (C)in Jesus Christ for (D)all those [a]who believe; for (E)there is no distinction; 23 for all [b](F)have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift (G)by His grace through (H)the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as (I)a [c]propitiation [d](J)in His blood through faith, for a demonstration of His righteousness, [e]because in the (K)forbearance of God He (L)passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [f]has faith in Jesus.
27 Where then is (M)boasting? It is excluded. By (N)what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 [g]For (O)we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works [h]of the Law.
29 Or (A)is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed (B)God, (C)who will justify the [a]circumcised [b]by faith and the [c]uncircumcised through that faith, (D)is one.
31 Do we then abolish [d]the Law through faith? (E)May it never be! On the contrary, we (F)establish the Law.
21 “(A)Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 (B)Many will say to Me on (C)that day, ‘Lord, Lord, in Your name did we not prophesy, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many [a]miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; (D)depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
Build Your House on the Rock
24 “Therefore (E)everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them, [b]may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and fell against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone hearing these words of Mine and not doing them, may be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
28 [c](F)Now it happened that when Jesus had finished these words, (G)the crowds were astonished at His teaching; 29 for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
