Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation
Of David.
27 The Lord is my (A)light and my (B)salvation;
(C)whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold[a] of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evildoers assail me
to (D)eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.
3 (E)Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet[b] I will be confident.
4 (F)One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may (G)dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon (H)the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire[c] in his temple.
5 For he will (I)hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will (J)lift me high upon a rock.
6 And now my (K)head shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of (L)joy;
(M)I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
7 (N)Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 You have said, (O)“Seek[d] my face.”
My heart says to you,
“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”[e]
9 (P)Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
(Q)O God of my salvation!
10 For (R)my father and my mother have forsaken me,
but the Lord will (S)take me in.
7 The path of the righteous is level;
(A)you make level the way of the righteous.
8 In the path of your judgments,
O Lord, we wait for you;
(B)your name and (C)remembrance
are the desire of our soul.
9 My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
(D)For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10 (E)If favor is shown to the wicked,
he does not learn righteousness;
in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly
and does not see the majesty of the Lord.
11 O Lord, (F)your hand is lifted up,
but (G)they do not see it.
Let them see your zeal for your people, and be ashamed.
Let (H)the fire for your adversaries consume them.
12 O Lord, you will ordain (I)peace for us,
for you have indeed done for us all our works.
13 O Lord our God,
(J)other lords besides you have ruled over us,
(K)but your name alone we bring to remembrance.
14 They are dead, they will not live;
they are shades, they will not arise;
to that end you have visited them with destruction
and wiped out all remembrance of them.
15 (L)But you have increased the nation, O Lord,
you have increased the nation; you are glorified;
(M)you have enlarged all the borders of the land.
37 Now when (A)they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, (B)what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, (C)“Repent and (D)be baptized every one of you (E)in the name of Jesus Christ (F)for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive (G)the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For (H)the promise is for you and (I)for your children and for all (J)who are far off, everyone (K)whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, (L)“Save yourselves from this (M)crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and (N)there were added that day about three thousand souls.
The Fellowship of the Believers
42 And (O)they devoted themselves to the apostles' (P)teaching and the (Q)fellowship, to (R)the breaking of bread and the prayers.
