Psalm 100

Worship God with Joy

A psalm of thanksgiving.[a]

100 Shout in triumph to Yahweh, all the earth.
Serve[b] Yahweh with joy;
come into his presence with exultation.
Know that Yahweh, he is God;
he made us and we are his.[c]
We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him; bless his name.
For Yahweh is good; his loyal love is forever,
and his faithfulness is from generation to generation.[d]

Isaiah 40:1-11

Comfort for God’s People

40 “Comfort; comfort my people,” says your God.

“Speak to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her,

that her compulsory labor is fulfilled, that her sin is paid for,
    that she has received[a] from the hand of Yahweh double for all her sins.”
A voice is calling in the wilderness, “Clear the way of Yahweh!
    Make a highway smooth in the desert for our God!
Every valley shall be lifted up,
    and every mountain and hill shall become low,
And the rough ground shall be like a plain,
    and the rugged ground like a valley-plain.
And the glory of Yahweh shall be revealed,
    and all humankind[b] together shall see it,

for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken.”

A voice is saying, “Call!”
    And he said, “What shall I call?”
All humankind[c] are grass,
    and all his loyalty is like the flowers of the field.
Grass withers; the flower withers
when the breath of Yahweh blows on it.
    Surely the people are grass.
Grass withers; the flower withers,
    but[d] the word of our God will stand forever.
Get yourself[e] up to a high mountain, Zion, bringer of good news!
    Lift up your voice with strength, Jerusalem, bringer of good news!
Lift it up; you must not fear!
    Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!”
10 Look! The Lord Yahweh comes with strength,[f]
    and his arm rules for him.
Look! His reward is with him,
    and his recompense in his presence.[g]
11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd;
    he will gather the lambs in his arm,
and he will carry them in his bosom;
    he will lead those who nurse.

Revelation 22:1-9

Paradise Restored

22 And he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming out from the throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of its street, and on both sides of the river[a] is the tree of life, producing twelve fruits—yielding its fruit according to every month—and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. And there will not be any curse any longer, and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his slaves will serve[b] him, and they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will not exist any longer, and they will not have need of the light of a lamp and the light[c] of the sun, because the Lord God will give light to them, and they will reign forever and ever[d].

The Time of Fulfillment is Near

And he said to me, “These words are faithful and true, and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his slaves the things which must take place in a short time.”

“And behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

And I, John, am the one who heard and who saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed these things to me. And he said to me, “Do not do that![e] I am your fellow slave, and of your brothers the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”
