Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Praise to the Lord for His Faithfulness to Israel.
99 (A)The Lord reigns, [a]the peoples tremble!
He (B)sits enthroned above the cherubim, [b]the earth quakes!
2 The Lord [c]is (C)great in Zion,
And He is (D)exalted above all the peoples.
3 May they praise Your (E)great and awesome name;
(F)Holy is [d]He.
4 The [e]strength of the King (G)loves [f]justice;
You have established [g](H)order;
You have (I)executed [h]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 [i](J)Exalt the Lord our God
And (K)worship at His footstool;
(L)Holy is He.
6 (M)Moses and Aaron were among His (N)priests,
And (O)Samuel was among those who (P)called on His name;
They (Q)called upon the Lord and He answered them.
7 He (R)spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They (S)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
8 Lord our God, You (T)answered them;
You were a (U)forgiving God to them,
And yet an (V)avenger of their evil deeds.
9 Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For the Lord our God is holy.
7 Now Moses used to take (A)the tent and pitch it outside the camp, a good distance from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And (B)everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting which was outside the camp. 8 And it came about, whenever Moses went out to the tent, that all the people would arise and stand, each at the entrance of his tent, and gaze after Moses until he entered the tent. 9 Whenever Moses entered the tent, (C)the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent; (D)and [a]the Lord would speak with Moses. 10 When all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people would stand and worship, each at the entrance of his tent. 11 So (E)the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When [b]Moses returned to the camp, (F)his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.
9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to (A)be first among them, does not accept [a]what we say. 10 For this reason, (B)if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with malicious words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not (C)receive the (D)brothers either, and he forbids those who want to do so and (E)puts them out of the church.
11 Beloved, (F)do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. (G)The one who does what is good is of God; (H)the one who does what is evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius (I)has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself; and we testify too, and (J)you know that our testimony is true.
