Psalm 105:1-6

The Lord Can Be Trusted

(A) Praise the Lord
    and pray in his name!
Tell everyone
    what he has done.
Sing praises to the Lord!
    Tell about his miracles.
Celebrate and worship
his holy name
    with all your heart.

Trust the Lord
    and his mighty power.
Remember his miracles
and all his wonders
    and his fair decisions.
You belong to the family
    of Abraham, his servant;
you are his chosen ones,
    the descendants of Jacob.

Psalm 105:37-45

37 (A) When God led Israel from Egypt,
they took silver and gold,
and no one was left behind.
38 The Egyptians were afraid
    and gladly let them go.
39 (B) God hid them under a cloud
and guided them by fire
    during the night.

40 (C) When they asked for food,
he sent more birds
    than they could eat.
41 (D) God even split open a rock,
and streams of water
    gushed into the desert.
42 God never forgot
his sacred promise
    to his servant Abraham.

43 When the Lord rescued
his chosen people from Egypt,
    they celebrated with songs.
44 (E) The Lord gave them the land
and everything else
    the nations had worked for.
45 He did this so that his people
would obey all his laws.
    Shout praises to the Lord!

Exodus 15:22-27

Bitter Water at Marah

22 After the Israelites left the Red Sea,[a] Moses led them through the Shur Desert for three days, before finding water. 23 They did find water at Marah, but it was bitter, which is how that place got its name.[b] 24 The people complained and said, “Moses, what are we going to drink?”

25 (A) Moses asked the Lord for help, and the Lord told him to throw a certain piece of wood into the water. Moses did so, and the water became fit to drink.

At Marah the Lord tested his people and also gave them some laws and teachings. 26 Then he said, “I am the Lord your God, and I cure your diseases. If you obey me by doing right and by following my laws and teachings, I won't punish you with the diseases I sent on the Egyptians.”

27 Later the Israelites came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and 70 palm trees. So they camped there.

2 Corinthians 13:1-4

Final Warnings and Greetings

13 (A) I am on my way to visit you for the third time. And as the Scriptures say, “Any charges must be proved true by at least two or three witnesses.” During my second visit I warned you that I would punish you and anyone else who doesn't stop sinning. I am far away from you now, but I give you the same warning. This should prove to you that I am speaking for Christ. When he corrects you, he won't be weak. He will be powerful! Although he was weak when he was nailed to the cross, he now lives by the power of God. We are weak, just as Christ was. But you will see that we will live by the power of God, just as Christ does.
