Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Psalm 114
God’s Deliverance of Israel
1 When Israel came out of Egypt—
the house of Jacob from a people
who spoke a foreign language(A)—
2 Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel, his dominion.(B)
19 When Pharaoh’s horses with his chariots and horsemen went into the sea, the Lord brought the water of the sea back over them. But the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground. 20 Then the prophetess Miriam,(A) Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women came out following her with tambourines and dancing.(B) 21 Miriam sang to them:
Sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted;
he has thrown the horse
and its rider into the sea.
7 When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words.(A) 8 Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.(B)
The Lord’s Prayer
9 “Therefore, you should pray like this: (C)
Our Father in heaven,
your name be honored as holy.(D)
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.(E)
11 Give us today our daily bread.[a]
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.(F)
13 And do not bring us into[b] temptation,(G)
but deliver us from the evil one.[c](H)
14 “For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well.(I) 15 But if you don’t forgive others,[d] your Father will not forgive your offenses.
