10 Hear, O daughter, and discern[a] and incline your ear,
and forget your people and your father’s house.
11 Let the king desire your beauty.[b]
Because he is your lord, therefore[c] bow down to him.
12 Even the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift.
The rich from among people will seek your favor.[d]
13 The king’s daughter is all glorious within;[e]
her garment is of gold embroidered cloth.
14 She is brought to the king in colorful garments.
The young women behind her, her attendants,
are being brought to you.
15 They are led with joy and gladness.
They enter the palace of the king.
16 In place of your[f] fathers will be your sons.
You will make them princes in all the land.[g]
17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations;
therefore peoples will praise you forever and ever.
18 And he went to his father and said, “My father.” And he said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?” 19 And Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau, your firstborn. I have done as you told me. Please get up, sit up and eat from my wild game so that you[a] may bless me.” 20 Then Isaac said to his son, “How[b] did you find it so quickly, my son?” And he said, “Because Yahweh your God caused me to find it.”[c] 21 Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Please, come near and let me feel you, my son. Are you really[d] my son Esau or not?” 22 And Jacob drew near to Isaac his father. And he felt him and said, “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” 23 And he did not recognize him because his hands were hairy like the hands of Esau his brother. And he blessed him. 24 And he said, “Are you really[e] my son Esau?” And he said, “I am.” 25 Then he said, “Bring it near to me that I may eat from the game of my son, so that I[f] may bless you.” And he brought it to him, and he ate. And he brought wine to him, and he drank. 26 Then his father Isaac said to him, “Come near and kiss me, my son.” 27 And he drew near and kissed him. And he[g] smelled the smell of his garments, and he blessed him and said,
“Look, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that Yahweh has blessed!
28 May God give you of the dew of heaven
and of the fatness of the earth,
and abundance of grain and new wine.
29 Let peoples serve you,
and nations bow down to you;
Be lord of your brothers,
and may the sons of your mother bow down to you.
Cursed be those cursing you,
and blessed be those blessing you.”
Jesus Rejoices and Prays
21 At that same time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to young children. Yes, Father, for this was pleasing before you. 22 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wants to reveal him.”[a]
23 And turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things which you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and did not see them,[b] and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.”[c]
