Psalm 47

God Our King

For the choir director. A psalm of the sons of Korah.

Clap your hands, all you peoples;(A)
shout to God with a jubilant cry.(B)
For Yahweh, the Most High, is awe-inspiring,
a great King over all the earth.(C)
He subdues peoples under us
and nations under our feet.(D)
He chooses for us our inheritance—
the pride of Jacob, whom He loves.(E)Selah

God ascends among shouts of joy,
the Lord, among the sound of trumpets.(F)
Sing praise to God, sing praise;
sing praise to our King, sing praise!(G)
Sing a song of wisdom,[a]
for God is King of all the earth.(H)

God reigns over the nations;
God is seated on His holy throne.(I)
The nobles of the peoples have assembled
with the people of the God of Abraham.(J)
For the leaders[b] of the earth belong to God;
He is greatly exalted.(K)

Genesis 22:15-18

15 Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said, “By Myself I have sworn,”(A) this is the Lord’s declaration: “Because you have done this thing and have not withheld your only son,[a] 17 I will indeed bless you(B) and make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky(C) and the sand on the seashore.(D) Your offspring will possess the gates of their enemies.(E) 18 And all the nations of the earth will be blessed[b] by your offspring(F) because you have obeyed My command.”

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12

Loving and Working

About brotherly love: You don’t need me to write you because you yourselves are taught by God(A) to love one another.(B) 10 In fact, you are doing this toward all the brothers in the entire region of Macedonia.(C) But we encourage you, brothers, to do so even more, 11 to seek to lead a quiet life,(D) to mind your own business,[a] and to work(E) with your own hands, as we commanded you, 12 so that you may walk properly[b](F) in the presence of outsiders[c] and not be dependent on anyone.[d](G)
