Psalm 130

Psalm 130

Awaiting Redemption

A song of ascents.

Out of the depths I call to you, Lord!(A)
Lord, listen to my voice;
let your ears be attentive
to my cry for help.(B)

Lord, if you kept an account of iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?(C)
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that you may be revered.(D)

I wait for the Lord; I wait
and put my hope in his word.(E)
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning—
more than watchmen for the morning.(F)

Israel, put your hope in the Lord.(G)
For there is faithful love with the Lord,
and with him is redemption in abundance.(H)
And he will redeem Israel
from all its iniquities.(I)

Ezekiel 33:10-16

10 “Now as for you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, ‘You have said this: “Our transgressions and our sins are heavy on us, and we are wasting away because of them!(A) How then can we survive?”’ (B) 11 Tell them, ‘As I live—this is the declaration of the Lord God—I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked person should turn from his way and live.(C) Repent, repent of your evil ways! Why will you die, house of Israel?’

12 “Now, son of man, say to your people, ‘The righteousness of the righteous person will not save him on the day of his transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked person cause him to stumble on the day he turns from his wickedness. The righteous person won’t be able to survive by his righteousness on the day he sins. 13 When I tell the righteous person that he will surely live, but he trusts in his righteousness and acts unjustly, then none of his righteousness will be remembered, and he will die because of the injustice he has committed.(D)

14 “‘So when I tell the wicked person, “You will surely die,” but he repents of his sin and does what is just and right— 15 he returns collateral, makes restitution for what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life(E) without committing injustice—he will certainly live; he will not die. 16 None of the sins he committed will be held[a] against him. He has done what is just and right; he will certainly live.(F)

Revelation 11:15-19

The Seventh Trumpet

15 The seventh angel blew his trumpet,(A) and there were loud voices in heaven saying,

The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom
of our Lord and of his Christ,
and he will reign forever and ever.(B)

16 The twenty-four elders, who were seated before God on their thrones, fell facedown and worshiped God, 17 saying,

We give you thanks, Lord God, the Almighty,
who is and who was,[a](C)
because you have taken your great power
and have begun to reign.(D)
18 The nations were angry,(E)
but your wrath has come.
The time has come
for the dead to be judged
and to give the reward
to your servants the prophets,(F)
to the saints, and to those who fear your name,
both small and great,(G)
and the time has come to destroy
those who destroy the earth.

19 Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant[b] appeared in his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder,(H) an earthquake,[c] and severe hail.
