雅各書 4:1-7
驕傲與謙卑
4 你們中間的衝突是從哪裡來的？爭執是從哪裡來的？難道不是從你們身體各部分中交戰的私欲而來的嗎？ 2 你們渴望而不能擁有，就殺人；你們嫉妒而不能獲得，就爭鬥、作戰。你們不能擁有，是因為你們不求； 3 你們求也不能得到，是因為你們求的動機[a]不對，為了要花費在自己的私欲上。
4 你們這些淫亂的人[b]哪！難道你們不知道，與世界為友，就是與神為敵嗎？所以，如果有人想要和世界做朋友，他就成了神的仇敵！ 5 或者，你們以為經上所說的「神[c]使聖靈住在我們裡面，他愛我們[d]到嫉妒的地步」是空話嗎？
6 不過他賜下更大的恩典，所以經上說：
「神抵擋驕傲的人，
賜恩典給謙卑的人。」[e]
7 因此，你們要服從神，要抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼就會逃避你們。
