Psalm 76

76 1 This Psalm setteth forth the power of God, and care for the defense of his people in Jerusalem, in the destruction of the army of Sennacherib: 11 and exhorteth the faithful to be thankful for the same.

To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalm, or song committed to Asaph.

God is [a]known in Judah: his Name is great in Israel.

For in [b]Salem is his Tabernacle, and his dwelling in Zion.

There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Thou art more bright and puissant, than [c]the mountains of prey.

The stouthearted are spoiled: they have slept their sleep, and all the men of strength have not [d]found their hands.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast asleep.

Thou, even thou art to be feared; and who shall stand in thy [e]sight, when thou art angry!

Thou didst cause thy judgment to be heard from heaven; therefore the earth feared, and was still,

When thou, O God, arose to judgment, to [f]help all the meek of the earth. Selah.

10 Surely the [g]rage of man shall turn to thy praise; the remnant of the rage shalt thou restrain.

11 Vow and perform unto the Lord your God, all ye that be [h]round about him; let them bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

12 He shall [i]cut off the spirit of princes; he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

Ezekiel 30:20-26

20 ¶ And in the [a]eleventh year, in the first month, and in the seventh day of the month, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

21 Son of man, [b]I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt: and lo, it shall not be bound up to be healed, neither shall they put a roll to bind it, and so make it strong to hold the sword.

22 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I come against Pharaoh King of Egypt, and will break [c]his arm that was strong, but is broken, and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

23 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.

24 And I will strengthen the arm of the king of Babel, and put my sword in his hand, but I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he shall cast out sighings, as the sighings of him that is wounded before him.

25 But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babel, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down, and they shall know, that I am the Lord, [d]when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babel, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.

26 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them among the countries, and they shall know, that I am the Lord.

John 16:25-33

25 [a]These things have I spoken unto you in parables: but the time will come, when I shall no more speak to you in parables: but I shall show you plainly of the Father.

26 [b]At that day shall ye ask in my Name, and I say not unto you, that I will pray unto the Father for you:

27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, (A)and have believed that I came out from God.

28 I am come out from the Father, and came into the world: again I leave the world, and go to the Father.

29 [c]His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and thou speakest no parable.

30 Now know we that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe, that thou art come out from God.

31 Jesus answered them, Do you believe now?

32 (B)[d]Behold, the hour cometh, and is already come, that ye shall be scattered every man into his own, and shall leave me alone: But I am not alone: for the Father is with me.

33 [e]These things have I spoken unto you, that [f]in me ye might have peace: in the world ye shall have affliction, but be of good comfort: I have overcome the world.
