Jeremiah 11:18-20

18 And the Lord hath taught me, and I know it, even then thou showedst me [a]their practices.

19 But I was like a lamb, or a bullock, that is brought to the slaughter, and I knew not that they had devised thus against me, saying, Let us [b]destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and cut him out of the land of the living, that his name may be no more in memory,

20 But O Lord of hosts, that judgest righteously, and triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy [c]vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.

Psalm 54

54 1 David brought into great danger by reason of the Ziphites, 5 Calleth upon the Name of God to destroy his enemies, 6 Promising sacrifices and free offerings for so great deliverance.

To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalm of David, to give instruction. When the Ziphims came and said unto Saul, (A)Is not David hid among us?

Save me, O God, [a]by thy Name, and by thy power judge me.

O God, hear my prayer: hearken unto the words of my mouth.

For [b]strangers are risen up against me, and [c]tyrants seek my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.

Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with [d]them that uphold my soul.

He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: Oh cut them off in thy [e]truth!

Then I will sacrifice [f]freely unto thee: I will praise thy Name, O Lord, because it is good.

For he hath delivered me out of all trouble, and mine eye hath [g]seen my desire upon mine enemies.

James 3:13-4:3

13 [a]Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show by good conversation his works in meekness of wisdom.

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, rejoice not, neither be liars against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, and devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is sedition, and all manner of evil works.

17 But the wisdom that is from above, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of [b]mercy and good fruits, without judging, and without hypocrisy.

18 [c]And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace, of them that make peace.

1 He reckoneth up the mischiefs that proceed of the works of the flesh. 7 He exhorteth to humility,  8 and to purge the heart 3 from pride, 10 backbiting, 14 and the forgetfulness of our own infirmity.

From [d]whence are wars and contentions among you? are they not hence, even of your pleasures, that fight in your members?

Ye lust, and have not: ye envy, and desire immoderately, and cannot obtain: ye fight, and war, and get nothing, [e]because ye ask not.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye might lay the same on your pleasures.

James 4:7-8

(A)[a]Submit yourselves to God: resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners, and purge your hearts, ye double minded.

Mark 9:30-37

30 (A)And they departed thence, and [a]went together through Galilee, and he would not that any should have known it.

31 [b]For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him, but after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.

32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

33 (B)[c]After, he came to Capernaum: and when he was in the [d]house, he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among you by the way?

34 And they held their peace: for by the way they reasoned among themselves, who should be the chiefest.

35 And he sat down and called the twelve, and said to them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant unto all.

36 And he took a little child, and set him in the midst of them, and took him in his arms, and said unto them,

37 Whosoever shall receive one of such little children in my Name, receiveth me: and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth not [e]me, but him that sent me.
