¹² But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why are you staring at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk? ^13 (A)The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, ^(B)the God of our fathers, has glorified His ^[a](C)Servant Jesus, the one whom ^(D)you handed over and disowned in the presence of ^(E)Pilate, when he had ^(F)decided to release Him. ¹⁴ But you disowned ^(G)the Holy and Righteous One, and ^(H)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, ¹⁵ but put to death the ^[b](I)Prince of life, whom ^(J)God raised from the dead, ^[c]a fact to which we are ^(K)witnesses. ¹⁶ And on the basis of faith ^(L)in His name, it is ^[d]the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

¹⁷ “And now, brothers, I know that you acted ^(M)in ignorance, just as your ^(N)rulers also did. ¹⁸ But the things which ^(O)God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, ^(P)that His ^[e]Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way. ¹⁹ Therefore ^(Q)repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that ^(R)times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

Children of God Love One Another

3 See ^[a](A)how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called ^(B)children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because ^(C)it did not know Him. ^2 (D)Beloved, now we are ^(E)children of God, and ^(F)it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He ^(G)appears, we will be ^(H)like Him, because we will ^(I)see Him just as He is. ³ And everyone who has this ^(J)hope set on Him ^(K)purifies himself, just as He is pure.

⁴ Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and ^(L)sin is lawlessness. ⁵ You know that He ^(M)appeared in order to ^(N)take away sins; and ^(O)in Him there is no sin. ⁶ No one who remains in Him ^(P)sins continually; no one who sins continually has seen Him or ^[b](Q)knows Him. ^7 (R)Little children, make sure no one ^(S)deceives you; ^(T)the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;

⁴⁴ Now He said to them, “^(H)These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all the things that are written about Me in the ^(I)Law of Moses and the Prophets and ^(J)the Psalms must be fulfilled.” ⁴⁵ Then He ^(K)opened their ^[d]minds to understand the Scriptures, ⁴⁶ and He said to them, “^(L)So it is written, that the ^[e]Christ would suffer and ^(M)rise from the dead on the third day, ⁴⁷ and that ^(N)repentance ^[f]for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed ^[g]in His name to ^(O)all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ You are ^(P)witnesses of these things.
