Peter Speaks in Cornelius’ House

³⁴ Then Peter began to speak, saying, “Truthfully, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons. ³⁵ But in every nation he who fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. ³⁶ The word which He sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all, ³⁷ the word, which you know, that was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: ³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

³⁹ “We are witnesses of all that He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. ⁴⁰ But God raised Him on the third day and presented Him publicly, ⁴¹ not to all the people, but to witnesses previously chosen by God, to us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead. ⁴² He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be the Judge of the living and the dead. ⁴³ To Him all the prophets bear witness that whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins through His name.”

15 Now, brothers, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which you have received, and in which you stand. ² Through it you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain.

³ For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: how Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ⁴ was buried, rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, ⁵ and was seen by Cephas, and then by the twelve. ⁶ Then He was seen by over five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain to this present time, though some have passed away. ⁷ Then He was seen by James and then by all the apostles. ⁸ Last of all, He was seen by me also, as by one born at the wrong time.

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles and am not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am. And His grace toward me was not in vain. I labored more abundantly than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. ¹¹ Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

20 Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb while it was still dark and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. ² So she came running to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him.”

³ So Peter came out with the other disciple and they went toward the tomb. ⁴ They both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. ⁵ Stooping down and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying. Yet he did not enter. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went inside the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, ⁷ and the cloth that was around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but wrapped in a place by itself. ⁸ Then the other disciple, who came first to the tomb, went in also. He saw and believed. ⁹ For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead. ¹⁰ Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.

The Appearance of Jesus to Mary Magdalene^(B)

¹¹ But Mary stood outside at the tomb weeping. As she wept, she stooped down and looked into the tomb, ¹² and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet.

¹³ They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”

She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put Him.” ¹⁴ When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus.

¹⁵ Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”

Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have put Him, and I will take Him away.”

¹⁶ Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, “Stop holding on to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father. But go to My brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’ ”

¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that He had said these things to her.

16 When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might go and anoint Him. ² Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb at the rising of the sun. ³ They said among themselves, “Who will roll the stone away from the door of the tomb for us?”

⁴ But when they looked, they saw that the stone had been rolled away. For it was very large. ⁵ And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white robe. And they were frightened.

⁶ He said to them, “Do not be frightened. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen. He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. ⁷ But go your way, tell His disciples and Peter that He is going before you to Galilee. There you will see Him, as He told you.”

⁸ They went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
