Psalm 145:14-21

14 The Lord supports all who are falling
    and raises up all who are bowed down.(A)

    you give them their food in due season.(B)
16 You open wide your hand
    and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is just in all his ways,
    merciful in all his works.(C)
18 The Lord is near to all who call upon him,
    to all who call upon him in truth.(D)

    he hears their cry and saves them.(E)

    but all the wicked he destroys.(F)
21 My mouth will speak the praises of the Lord;
    all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.

Proverbs 10:1-5

III. First Solomonic Collection of Sayings[a]

Chapter 10

The Proverbs of Solomon:
A wise son gives his father joy,
    but a foolish son is a grief to his mother.[b](A)
Ill-gotten treasures profit nothing,
    but justice saves from death.[c](B)
The Lord does not let the just go hungry,
    but the craving of the wicked he thwarts.[d]
The slack hand impoverishes,
    but the busy hand brings riches.(C)
A son who gathers in summer is a credit;
    a son who slumbers during harvest, a disgrace.

Philippians 4:10-15

VII. Gratitude for the Philippians’ Generosity[a]

10 I rejoice greatly in the Lord that now at last you revived your concern for me. You were, of course, concerned about me but lacked an opportunity.(A) 11 Not that I say this because of need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I find myself, to be self-sufficient.(B) 12 I know indeed how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live with abundance. In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need. 13 I have the strength for everything through him who empowers me.(C) 14 Still, it was kind of you to share in my distress.

15 You Philippians indeed know that at the beginning of the gospel,[b] when I left Macedonia, not a single church shared with me in an account of giving and receiving, except you alone.
