Job 19:23-27

23 “Oh, that my words were written!
    Oh, that they were inscribed in a book!
24 That they were engraved with an iron pen
    and lead in the rock forever!
25 For I know that my Redeemer lives,
    and He will stand at last on the earth;
26 and after my skin is destroyed,
    yet in my flesh I will see God,
27 whom I will see for myself,
    and my eyes will behold, and not another.
    How my heart yearns within me.

Psalm 17:1-9

Psalm 17

A Prayer of David.

Hear a just cause, O Lord,
    attend to my cry;
give ear to my prayer
    that is not spoken from deceitful lips.
May my sentence go out from Your presence;
    may Your eyes see rightly.

You have examined my heart; You have visited me in the night;
    You have tried me and found nothing;
    I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.
Concerning the works of men,
    by the word of Your lips
I have avoided
    the paths of the violent,
placing my steps in Your paths,
    that my footsteps do not slip.

I called on You, for You will answer me, O God;
    incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.
Show marvelously Your lovingkindness,
    O Deliverer of those who seek refuge
    by Your right hand from those who arise in opposition.
Keep me as the apple of Your eye;
    hide me under the shadow of Your wings,
from the wicked who bring ruin to me,
    from my deadly enemies who surround me.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-5

The Man of Lawlessness

Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and concerning our gathering together unto Him, we ask you not to let your mind be quickly shaken or be troubled, neither in spirit nor by word, nor by letter coming as though from us, as if the day of Christ is already here. Do not let anyone deceive you in any way. For that Day will not come unless a falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or is worshipped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself as God.

Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?

2 Thessalonians 2:13-17

Chosen for Salvation

13 But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, beloved brothers of the Lord, because God has from the beginning called you to salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief of the truth. 14 To this He called you by our gospel, to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by word or by our letter.

16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and has given us eternal consolation and good hope through grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

Luke 20:27-38

The Question About the Resurrection(A)

27 Some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, 28 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, having a wife but no children, then this man should take the wife and raise up children for his brother.[a] 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife and died childless. 30 The second took her as wife, and he died childless. 31 And then the third took her, and in like manner, all seven died and left no children. 32 Last of all, the woman died also. 33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as a wife.”

34 Jesus answered them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35 But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage. 36 For they cannot die any more, for they are equal to the angels and are the sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 37 Now, at the bush, even Moses pointed out that the dead are raised when he called the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’[b] 38 For He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. For to Him all live.”
