Psalm 138

I Will Give Thanks to Your Name

Of David.

138 (A)I will give You thanks with all my heart;
I will sing praises to You before the (B)gods.
I will worship (C)toward Your holy temple
And (D)give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your [a]truth;
For You have (E)magnified Your [b]word [c]according to all Your name.
On the day I (F)called, You answered me;
You made me bold with (G)strength in my soul.

(H)All the kings of the earth, O Yahweh, will give You thanks,
When they hear the words of Your mouth.
And they will (I)sing of the ways of Yahweh,
For (J)great is the glory of Yahweh.
For (K)Yahweh is high,
Yet He (L)sees the lowly,
But the (M)one who exalts himself He knows from afar.

Though I (N)walk in the midst of [d]distress, You will [e](O)revive me;
You will (P)stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will (Q)save me.
Yahweh will (R)accomplish what concerns me;
O Yahweh, Your (S)lovingkindness endures forever;
(T)Do not fail the (U)works of Your hands.

Esther 3:7-15

In the first month, which is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, [a]Pur, that is the lot, was (A)cast before Haman from day to day and from month to month, [b]until the twelfth month, that is (B)the month Adar. Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered and separated among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom; (C)their laws are different from those of all other people, and they do not do the king’s laws, so it is not worth it for the king to let them remain. If it seems good to the king, let it be written down that they should perish, and I will pay [c]10,000 talents of silver into the hands of those who do this work, to bring into the king’s treasuries.” 10 Then (D)the king removed his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha (E)the Agagite, (F)the adversary of the Jews. 11 And the king said to Haman, “The silver is [d]yours, and the people also, to do with them according to what is good in your eyes.”

12 (G)Then the king’s scribes were summoned on the thirteenth day of the first month, and it was written just as Haman commanded to (H)the king’s satraps, to the governors who were over each province, and to the princes of each people, each province according to its script, each people according to its tongue, being written (I)in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed with the king’s signet ring. 13 And letters were sent by the hand of (J)couriers to all the king’s provinces (K)to destroy, to kill, and to cause all the Jews to perish, both young and old, little ones and women, (L)in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to (M)plunder their spoil. 14 (N)A copy of that which was written down to be given as law in every province was revealed to all the peoples so that they should be ready for this day. 15 The couriers went out, hastened by the word of the king. And the law was given at the citadel in Susa. Now the king and Haman sat down to drink, but (O)the city of Susa was in confusion.

Acts 2:22-36

22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: (A)Jesus the Nazarene, (B)a man [a]attested to you by God with [b]miracles and (C)wonders and [c]signs which God did through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know— 23 this Man, delivered over by the (D)predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, (E)you nailed to a cross by the hands of lawless men and put Him to death. 24 [d]But (F)God raised Him up again, putting an end to the [e]agony of death, since it (G)was impossible for Him to be held [f]in its power. 25 For David says of Him,

(H)I saw the [g]Lord continually before me;
Because He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted;
Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;
27 Because You will not forsake my soul to (I)Hades,
(J)Nor give Your [h]Holy One over to see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’

29 “Men, brothers, I may confidently say to you regarding the (K)patriarch David that he both (L)died and (M)was buried, and (N)his tomb is [i]with us to this day. 30 And so, because he was (O)a prophet and knew that (P)God had sworn to him with an oath to set one of the fruit [j]of his body on his throne, 31 he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the [k]Christ, that (Q)He was neither forsaken to Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus (R)God raised up again, to which we are all (S)witnesses. 33 Therefore having been exalted [l](T)to the right hand of God, and (U)having received from the Father (V)the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has (W)poured out this which you both see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says:

(X)The [m]Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at My right hand,
35 Until I put Your enemies as a footstool for Your feet.”’

36 Therefore let all the (Y)house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both (Z)Lord and [n]Christ—this Jesus (AA)whom you crucified.”
