Psalm 8

For the director of music. According to gittith. A psalm of David.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in the whole earth!

You have set your glory
    in the heavens.
You have made sure that children
    and infants praise you.
Their praise is a wall
that stops the talk of your enemies.

I think about the heavens.
I think about what your fingers have created.
I think about the moon and stars
that you have set in place.
What are human beings that you think about them?
What is a son of man that you take care of him?
You have made them a little lower than the angels.
You placed on them a crown of glory and honor.

You made human beings rule over everything your hands created.
You put everything under their control.
They rule over all flocks and herds
    and over the wild animals.
They rule over the birds in the sky
and over the fish in the ocean.
They rule over everything that swims in the oceans.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in the whole earth!

Proverbs 3:13-18

13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom.
Blessed is the one who gains understanding.
14 Wisdom pays better than silver does.
She earns more than gold does.
15 She is worth more than rubies.
Nothing you want can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand.
In her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways.
All her paths lead to peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her.
Those who hold her close will be blessed.

Ephesians 1:17-19

17 I pray to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the glorious Father. I keep asking him to give you the wisdom and understanding that come from the Holy Spirit. I want you to know God better. 18 I pray that you may understand more clearly. Then you will know the hope God has chosen you to receive. You will know that what God will give his holy people is rich and glorious. 19 And you will know God’s great power. It can’t be compared with anything else. His power works for us who believe. It is the same mighty strength
