Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
Version
Psalm 104:24-34

24 How countless are Your works, Lord!
In wisdom You have made them all;
the earth is full of Your creatures.[a](A)
25 Here is the sea, vast and wide,
teeming with creatures beyond number—
living things both large and small.(B)
26 There the ships move about,
and Leviathan, which You formed to play there.(C)

27 All of them wait for You
to give them their food at the right time.(D)
28 When You give it to them,
they gather it;
when You open Your hand,
they are satisfied with good things.(E)
29 When You hide Your face,
they are terrified;
when You take away their breath,
they die and return to the dust.(F)
30 When You send Your breath,[b]
they are created,
and You renew the face of the earth.(G)

31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in His works.(H)
32 He looks at the earth, and it trembles;
He touches the mountains,
and they pour out smoke.(I)
33 I will sing to the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God while I live.(J)
34 May my meditation be pleasing to Him;
I will rejoice in the Lord.(K)

Psalm 104:35

35 May sinners vanish from the earth
and wicked people be no more.(A)
My soul, praise Yahweh!
Hallelujah!

Isaiah 32:11-17

11 Shudder, you complacent ones;
tremble, you overconfident ones!
Strip yourselves bare(A)
and put sackcloth around your waists.
12 Beat your breasts in mourning(B)
for the delightful fields and the fruitful vines,(C)
13 for the ground of my people
growing thorns and briers,(D)
indeed, for every joyous house in the joyful city.
14 For the palace will be forsaken,
the busy city abandoned.
The hill and the watchtower will become
barren places forever,
the joy of wild donkeys,
and a pasture for flocks,
15 until the Spirit from heaven is poured out on us.(E)
Then the desert will become an orchard,
and the orchard will seem like a forest.(F)
16 Then justice will inhabit the wilderness,
and righteousness will dwell in the orchard.
17 The result of righteousness will be peace;(G)
the effect of righteousness
will be quiet confidence forever.

Galatians 5:16-25

The Spirit versus the Flesh

16 I say then, walk by the Spirit(A) and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires(B) what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.(C) 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious:[a][b] sexual immorality,(D) moral impurity,(E) promiscuity,(F) 20 idolatry,(G) sorcery,(H) hatreds,(I) strife,(J) jealousy,(K) outbursts of anger,(L) selfish ambitions,(M) dissensions,(N) factions,(O) 21 envy,[c](P) drunkenness, carousing,(Q) and anything similar. I tell you about these things in advance—as I told you before—that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.(R)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit(S) is love,(T) joy,(U) peace, patience,(V) kindness,(W) goodness, faith,[d] 23 gentleness,(X) self-control.(Y) Against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus(Z) have crucified the flesh(AA) with its passions and desires.(AB) 25 Since we live(AC) by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit.
