118 1 David rejected of Saul and of the people at the time appointed obtained the kingdom. 4 For the which he biddeth all them, that fear the Lord, to be thankful. And under his person in all this was Christ lively set forth, who should be of his people rejected.
1 Praise [a]ye the Lord, because he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.
2 Let Israel now say, That his mercy endureth forever.
14 The Lord is my strength and [a]song: for he hath been my deliverance.
15 The [b]voice of joy and deliverance shall be in the tabernacles of the righteous, saying, The right hand of the Lord hath done valiantly.
16 [c]The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord hath done valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord had chastened me sore, but he hath not delivered me to death.
19 Open ye unto me the [d]gates of righteousness, that I may go into them, and praise the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord: the righteous shall enter into it.
21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and hast been my deliverance.
22 (A)The stone, which the builders [e]refused, is the head of the corner.
23 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes,
24 This is the [f]day, which the Lord hath made: let us rejoice and be glad in it.
17 Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of [a]Heber the Kenite: (for peace was between Jabin the king of Hazor, and between the house of Heber the Kenite.)
18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn into me: fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into her tent, she covered him with a [b]mantel.
19 And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink: for I am thirsty. And she opened (A)a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.
20 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and when any man doth come and inquire of thee, saying, Is [c]any man there? thou shalt say, Nay.
21 Then Jael Heber’s wife took a [d]nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground, (for he was fast asleep and weary) and so he died.
22 And behold, as Barak pursued after Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will show thee the man, whom thou seekest: and when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay [e]dead, and the nail in his temples.
23 So God brought down Jabin the king of Canaan that day before the children of Israel.
24 Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite shall be blessed above other women: blessed shall she be above women dwelling in tents.
25 He asked water, and she gave him milk: she brought forth [a]butter in a lordly dish.
26 She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman’s hammer: with the hammer smote she Sisera: she smote off his head, after she had wounded and pierced his temples.
27 He bowed him down at her feet, he fell down, and lay still: at her feet he bowed him down, and fell: and when he had sunk down, he lay there [b]dead.
28 The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long a coming? why tarry the [c]wheels of his chariots?
29 Her wise ladies answered her, Yea. [d]She answered herself with her own words,
30 Have they not gotten, and they divide the spoil? every man hath a maid or two. Sisera hath a prey of diverse colored garments, a prey of sundry colors made of needle work: of diverse colors of needle work on both sides, [e]for the chief of the spoil.
31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but they that love him, shall be as the [f]Sun when he riseth in his might, and the land had rest forty years.
12 1 A woman 2 appeareth travailing with child, 4 whose child the dragon would devour, 7 but Michael overcometh him 9 and casteth him out, 13 and the more he is cast down and vanquished, the more fiercely he exercised his subtleties.
1 And [a]there appeared a great wonder in heaven: [b]A woman clothed with the Sun, and the Moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve Stars.
2 And [c]she was with child, and cried travailing in birth, and was pained ready to be delivered.
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven: [d]for behold, a great red dragon having [e]seven heads, and ten [f]horns, and seven crowns upon his heads:
4 [g]And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon [h]stood before the woman, which was ready to be delivered, [i]to devour her child, when she had brought it forth.
5 [j]So she brought forth a man [k]child, which should rule all nations with a rod of iron: and that her child was taken up unto God and to his throne.
6 [l]And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that [m]they should feed her there a thousand, two hundred and threescore days.
7 And there was a battle in heaven, [n]Michael and his Angels, fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels.
8 [o]But they prevailed not, neither was their [p]place found anymore in heaven.
9 And the great dragon that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, was cast out, which deceiveth all the world: he was even cast into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, [q]Now is salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 But they overcame him by that blood of that Lamb, and by that word of their testimony, and they [r]loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, and of the sea: for the devil is come down unto you, which hath great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time.
