Isaiah 50:4-9

The Lord’s Servant Trusts in the Lord’s Help

Adonay Yahweh will teach me what to say,
so I will know how to encourage weary people.
Morning after morning he will wake me
    to listen like a student.
Adonay Yahweh will open my ears.
I will not rebel, nor will I turn away from him.
I will offer my back to those who whip me
and my cheeks to those who pluck hairs out of my beard.
I will not turn my face away from those who humiliate me
    and spit on me.

Adonay Yahweh helps me.
That is why I will not be ashamed.
I have set my face like a flint.
I know that I will not be put to shame.
The one who pronounces me innocent is near.
Who will bring a case against me?
        Let us confront each other!
    Who accuses me?
        Let him confront me!
Adonay Yahweh helps me.
    Who will find me guilty?
They will all wear out like a garment.
            Moths will eat them.

Psalm 70

Psalm 70[a]

For the choir director; by David; to be kept in mind.

Come quickly to rescue me, O Elohim!
Come quickly to help me, O Yahweh!
Let those who seek my life
be confused and put to shame.
Let those who want my downfall
    be turned back and disgraced.
Let those who say, “Aha! Aha!”
be turned back because of their own shame.
Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad because of you.
Let those who love your salvation continually say,
    Elohim is great!”

But I am oppressed and needy.
O Elohim, come to me quickly.
You are my help and my savior.
        O Yahweh, do not delay!

Hebrews 12:1-3

Faith Directs Our Lives

12 Since we are surrounded by so many examples of faith, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up. We must focus on Yeshua, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position in heaven, the one next to the throne of God. Think about Yeshua, who endured opposition from sinners, so that you don’t become tired and give up.

John 13:21-32

Jesus Knows Who Will Betray Him(A)

21 After saying this, Yeshua was deeply troubled. He declared, “I can guarantee this truth: One of you is going to betray me!”

22 The disciples began looking at each other and wondering which one of them Yeshua meant.

23 One disciple, the one whom Yeshua loved, was near him at the table. 24 Simon Peter motioned to that disciple and said, “Ask Yeshua whom he’s talking about!”

25 Leaning close to Yeshua, that disciple asked, “Lord, who is it?”

26 Yeshua answered, “He’s the one to whom I will give this piece of bread after I’ve dipped it in the sauce.” So Yeshua dipped the bread and gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.

27 Then, after Judas took the piece of bread, Satan entered him. So Yeshua told him, “Hurry! Do what you have to do.” 28 No one at the table knew why Yeshua said this to him. 29 Judas had the moneybag. So some thought that Yeshua was telling him to buy what they needed for the festival or to give something to the poor.

30 Judas took the piece of bread and immediately went outside. It was night.

31 When Judas was gone, Yeshua said, “The Son of Man is now glorified, and because of him God is glorified. 32 If God is glorified because of the Son of Man, God will glorify the Son of Man because of himself, and he will glorify the Son of Man at once.”
